Edward M. Kennedy Institute
Promoting bipartisan dialogue in the U.S. Senate and providing world class civics education to students from K-college.
Thank you to all public sector employees who have served and currently serve our nation at all levels, including the members of our Kennedy Staff Alumni Club. We appreciate your service! #publicservicerecognitionweek

Congratulations to educator Kelley Brown and her 2025-2026 Massachusetts State #WeThePeople team from Easthampton High School, who won the MA Championships here at the Institute and went on to win a unit prize at the National Competition in Washington D.C. last month. #TeacherAppreciationWeek #CivicsEducation #CivicEngagement

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all #teachers and especially the more than 1,500 amazing educators who have partnered with us in the 2025-2026 school year to support the civic learning of young people. We are so grateful for your dedicated work in the classroom and for the opportunity to work with you and your students at the Kennedy Institute and in our virtual programs! #CivicsEducation #CivicEducation #CivicEngagement #civics

On this day in 1789, the U.S. Senate passed their first bill - the Oath Act - that established a procedural oath that members and civil servants attest to: "I do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States." #ushistory #USHistoryFacts #CivicsEducation#USSenate

We had a great time today hosting our biannual Vermont Day in collaboration with the @sensanders team! Senator Sanders’ staffers facilitated a dialogue with 30 students from 3 different Vermont schools about property taxes in their state.
Students then took on the role of senators in one of the Institute’s Senate simulation programs, debating reforms to programs and voting rights for federal prisoners, and mandatory minimum sentences. Thank you to the Vermont educators and students who made their way out to Boston this morning!

On Friday, we got the chance to visit the @emkinstitute to see what it’s like to be US senators and participate in a Green New Deal voting simulation! Thanks for having us!

Big news for civic education 🇺🇸✨
Thanks to a $500,000 grant from @CarnegieCorp of New York, we’re expanding our flagship Senate Immersion Module (SIM)—and launching a brand-new virtual experience for students nationwide.
Since 2015, we’ve welcomed:
🎓 170,000+ students
📚 14,000+ educators
🗺️ 45 states
Now, even more young people—especially those who can’t travel to Boston—will have the opportunity to step into the role of “Senators for the day,” engage in real-world issues, and build the skills needed for civic participation.
The future of democracy starts here.

📣 We’re excited to welcome Joseph P. Kennedy III and Patrick Dorton as Chairs of our Board of Directors!
Here’s to advancing bipartisanship and civil discourse—together.
👏🏻 Thank you to Bruce Percelay for five years of incredible leadership.
