🎨 Unveiling “Ready for Transmission”

After weeks of dedication, precision, and countless hours under the sun, “Ready for Transmission” is unveiled! This vibrant mural at Tampines North Community Club bridges past and present, reimagining the iconic TV test pattern—a familiar sight in the neighbourhood—through a contemporary lens.

Led by soph O and Chris Chai, this large-scale work was brought to life with the support of their terrific team: Amanda Ong, Charmaine Chen, Fanny Ozda, and Sean Dunston.

From meticulous brushstrokes to bold colour transitions, every detail in this mural reflects the spirit of evolution—flowing from the structured test pattern into fluid digital expressions, symbolising the community’s journey into the future.

It has been a tremendous privilege for Art Outreach to be involved in this project as advisor and project manager. We appreciate the partnership and trust of People’s Association, Tampines North CC, AkzoNobel, and our wonderful team of artists!

We’d like to extend warmest thanks and appreciation to AkzoNobel for their generous support in making this possible with Dulux Weathershield paint!

‘Fortress’
Coliwoo Balestier, 2022.

From when the Light Zone signs were still up.

This one was and still is biggest mural I’ve ever painted. The brief was both fairly simple yet deceptively tricky - to consider and use the windows in the overall design and not simply have an artwork slapped over the building. After a lifetime of ideation and revision, I ended up going with a design that uses the ‘natural’ architecture of the building to inform the artwork, taking note of the building’s grids and features and using them as guides for placement of shapes and forms so they fit ‘perfectly’ onto the structure’s facade. In my mind, I approached this a little like how a tattooer would craft out an arm sleeve - using the muscular structure and focal points of the arm to inform placement of imagery and direction of flow, resulting in an art piece that is extremely site specific.

Concept wise, I wanted to create a massive geometric optical illusion that felt like it had its own sense of lighting and dimension, despite existing on a flat surface (think bootleg Trompe-l’œil meets Op Art). Something that would be instantly recognisable from far away, contrasted against colourful Chinese Baroque Kim Kwong Ho shophouses, located right across the mural. You enjoy your bright happy pastels, I’ll go with serious heavy grey.

I was especially proud of how the large stencilled hexagons turned out. Uniformly placed across the width of the building that created the illusion of objects emerging from and floating over the surface, hopefully adding a slight sense of movement to an otherwise completely static piece.

The intention here was to drastically alter the landscape, in hopes of creating some modern looking ‘drama’ in an otherwise old area of Singapore. An impregnable fortress of temporary tenants right at the edge of Balestier road.

The whole thing took up the better part of my year, almost 5 months of dying in the sun and crying in the rain. Half of it was painted alone and the other half painted with the help of 2 tireless masters of precision @ojustiin and Andrew Yap with additional assistance from @its.justz.tnc

Beautifully shot by the immensely talented @ojustiin

Last couple of days to catch our 2 month long ‘Off The Wall’ mural exhibition at @artoutreachsingapore which goes on till 1st November. It’s been a massive journey of daily all nighters, extreme caffeination and the persistent labouring of love but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. After Wednesday we reinstate the gallery and send the artworks off to its final resting place - immortalised lovingly in the realms of print and memory.

‘Divine Intervention’ explores themes of sacredness, veneration and communication with the divine, using the Taoist altar as a starting off point for these investigations. With the work I attempt to transpose feelings of divine adoration, the creation of personal sacred spaces and what it means to speak to your gods.

HUGE thank you to the @artoutreachsingapore team for putting this experience together and the friends that pulled through at the last minute to aid me in manifesting my madness.
@sensible.shoes @joelxgoh @wolfsloth @r2binks @atmosphericss @wscmalcolm @hweeeeen @rchlxtyn @not_sushitrash_leh @emfemeral and of course the ever reliable Andrew Yap.

Lastly, it was an absolute honour to work alongside my brothers-in-arms @antz_rscls and @lewischooliwei and watch them conjure magic in the same space. You guys define inspiration.

If you have a moment between now and 1st November, it would mean the world to me for you to see the work up close.

@sensible.shoes @joelxgoh @wolfsloth @r2binks @atmosphericss @wscmalcolm @hweeeeen @rchlxtyn @not_sushitrash_leh @emfemeral and of course the ever reliable Andrew Yap.

Lastly, it was an absolute honour to work alongside my brothers-in-arms @antz_rscls and @lewischooliwei and watch them conjure magic in the same space. You guys define inspiration.

If you have a moment between now and 1st November, it would mean the world to me for you to see the work up close.

🫟 Meet the artists who turn our plain white walls into sprawling murals!

This year, SHEEP (@sheep.chen), a street artist and muralist from China, collaborates with tattoo artist WOLFSLOTH (@wolfsloth) to bring the festival theme 𝘚𝘺𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘴 to life at the New Feature Wall. Their mural blends SHEEP’s radiant sun motifs with WOLFSLOTH’s mythical creatures and nature‑inspired forms, creating a vibrant tribute to Kampong Gelam’s living heritage.

Over at the back wall of Aliwal Arts Centre, Egg Fiasco (@eggfiasco), a visual artist from the Philippines, and muralist‑illustrator Chris Chai (@cosmicchai) team up for a live graffiti painting session — crafting a piece inspired by old‑school video games fused with surreal and futuristic elements.

At #AUAF2026, art isn’t just made – it’s co‑created.

See you this Saturday, 31 Jan — don’t miss it!

Chronicle of Chaos, 2020

Mural WIP for Google SG HQ literally right before the world went dark.
Didn’t know it at the time but this job really saved me during Covid. 1 of 2 that year if memory serves.
Infinitely grateful to the gracious folks at @theartling for this one. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Situated at the elevator entrance of one of the floors at Google, I wanted the mural to operate as a gateway of sorts into the new office floor. A kaleidoscopic portal into virtual realms of the strange and familiar.

The irony is that I think the floor remained vacant for a couple of years post Covid so essentially it was an unused portal into nowhere for a while. Not even sure if this is still there

Couldn’t have done this one without technical master of everything @ojustiin 🦾

Excuse the bad pics, phone was much shittier back then haha
