This week marks National Volunteer Week - 2026’s theme, ‘Your Year to Volunteer’, encourages more people to get involved and recognises the incredible impact volunteers have in building connected, inclusive and resilient communities. ❤️

At the City, more than 140 volunteers generously give their time across a range of programs and services, including the iCity Visitor Service, Citiplace Community Centre and Perth Town Hall.

To thank our volunteers for their ongoing dedication, we hosted a special afternoon tea at Citiplace Community Centre. Guests enjoyed acknowledgements from the Lord Mayor and CEO, live music, and the opportunity to come together, share stories and celebrate the meaningful contributions they make every day.

Big things are taking shape at Supreme Court Gardens 🎉

We’ve hit a milestone with piling now underway for the new Lotterywest Community Stage as part of the Supreme Court Gardens event space upgrade.

Supported by a Lotterywest grant, the upgraded space will feature a permanent community stage, improved event infrastructure and better amenities for performers, organisers and visitors.

The revitalised space is set to be ready for the summer season, to support larger events more often, creating an even better experience for our community in the heart of the city.

It was great to see the community come together to hear from local experts celebrating WA’s unique environment, including Native Bee Scientist Kit Prendergast, SERCUL Education Manager Natasha Bowden and the City of Perth Parks and Environment team.

There are plenty more Tree Month workshops, plantings and community activities still to come.
