No matter who, when, or where, great skateboarding is great skateboarding. @coryjuneau holds the power and style on this frontside boardslide like… nobody else. Congrats Cory! 🥉

A rare, time-tested relic from my past surprisingly made its way back to me through the wonders of digital communication last week. Following a brief email exchange I was reconnected with this personal skate deck that I’d given away at a skate demo decades ago. That exact location is still unknown as the recipient was not the person that had returned this skateboard to me.
The story goes that during a skate event I’d gifted this deck to a skater that had snapped his skateboard. My penmanship on the deck is faded, yet it states, “Don’t break this one.”
More telling signs that this was my personalized rider shows from the grip tape and paint pen markings on this first issue Gargoyle Schmitt Stix deck. But what’s really rare are the uncommon radiuses and notches that appear on both the underside and the top of the nose area of the deck. These custom reliefs were created by Vision’s wood shop wizard and skate master Chuck Hults to assist in grabbing the nose (back in an era when it was appropriate) and to possibly generate enhanced shoe adhesion with ollies.
Ah, such awesome souvenirs from great times where Chuck regularly sent Schmitt Stix team riders a few customized decks in their packages using his sanding disk creativity to make it happen. Thank you Chuck!
And many thanks to Adam for reaching out to reconnect this board with me 34 years later! This one escaped the landfill!

2022 was a real tough one for me personally. Early in the year I lost my older brother - my only sibling to a tragic motorcycle accident. The grief is difficult at times and it’s been tricky to manage. But I did get through the year thanks to friends that remained in contact with me. I greatly appreciate you all.
Here’s a visual look back on a year that was full of travel and great moments despite what I’ve been going through. Let’s move forward with creativity, kindness, love, and style in 2023. Happy New Year!

I just want to send out a hard post of appreciation for @stevevandoren and all that he does and has done for skateboarders, bmx riders, surfers, and snowboarders through his efforts with @vans. Congratulations on your well deserved lifetime achievement award and recognition Steve!
As a @skateboardinghalloffame 2026 inductee I received a gift certificate for complimentary pair of @vansskate shoes. What an awesome and thoughtful gift!
Steve and @vans have continually supported the SHoF efforts each year and it is massively effective and appreciated by everyone! Thank you @peterbilt72, @vansgirl1and all involved. We are very fortunate to have any sort of event or gathering to appreciate those that have contributed to our life of skateboarding.
And thank you to @currencaples and his design team. These shoes are sick!

This post goes out to all skateboarders worldwide and to those that have filmed or photographed me, and to those that I’ve filmed or photographed. The ecosystem of gnar and creativity is a special one and it continues to roll forward with each generation of skaters. I’m very grateful to have played a roll in it.
Thanks so much to the @skateboardinghalloffame, @mthuber, @laurathornhillcaswell, @x_o_flowers, @vansskate, @peterbilt72, @stevevandoren, @vansgirl1, and many others that made the SHoF 2026 event happen this year once again.
And special thanks to @coanbuddynichols for pulling together these SHoF Inductee videos for the past six years. Each piece quickly shares a creative view of a person’s love and involvement of this special thing called skateboarding.
Much love and stoke! ❤️⚡️
Here is my 2026 Skateboarding Hall of Fame induction speech from last week in which I decided to freestyle my words instead of reading my lengthy prepared speech.
Specifically, I want to sincerely apologize to my wife Donna, @dmurakamikanights for failing to mention her or directly thank her in this moment. I truly screwed up. And I know that without her love and support over these past 21 years I would not be able to achieve my creative goals or dreams in this life.
Indeed, behind every successful man is a supportive woman (or man) that’s just as meaningful or substantial. I love you babe! ❤️
- Bryce
Additionally, I would like to thank my sponsors over the years of my amateur and professional skateboarding career, Fogtown Skateboards, Madrid Skateboards, Independent Truck Co., Schmitt Stix, Billabong, Dogtown, and Vans shoes.

Last Friday evening’s Skateboarding Hall of Fame was a bit overwhelming for me. I was stoked to be there, but I was riddled with anxiety and in the moment I opted to forego my prepared speech up on stage. I knew that these words below wouldn’t fit into the allotted 90 seconds in accepting my induction into the Hall with others that night so I winged it and I botched it. So please read my words below.
First and foremost, I dedicate this moment and this award to my loving mom Ardine Kanights. She passed away peacefully 10 months ago last July. She was my biggest fan and supporter ever since I brought a skateboard home in the summer of 1975. My mother always encouraged me to seek out things that made me happy in life and she worked hard to provide for both me and my brother growing up in San Francisco.
I also must make a point to thank my beautiful and wonderful wife of 21 years, Donna who has been my biggest supporter and teammate in this journey. Her hard work has been full of sacrifice and has allowed me to continue to travel the world photographing skateboarding’s tours and its largest global events including X Games, Vans Park Series, Dew Tours, and two Olympics — Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. I love you dearly Donna.
I’m honored and grateful to be included within this year’s list of 2026 Skateboarding Hall of Fame inductees. Most of them I’ve been friends with for many years and I continue to greatly respect each and all of them. Congratulations!
At the early age of twelve, skateboarding provided me with not only physical entertainment and activity, it presented to me and my friends, Tony and Tommy Guerrero, Joe Fong, Aaron Lasnover, Michael Brown, Gordon and Julian Levinson and Ray Meyer and others a means of transportation around the city, But Importantly, skateboarding provided all of us confidence, and it furthered my growing interest in photography at the same time.
• My words continued in comments below.
I’m beyond grateful for skateboarding and so many awesome friends and people in my life. Thank you all, with much love and stoke! 🛹❤️⚡️

Attention Portlanders and Rose City visitors! Next week, @humphriesphoto , @photojoebrook , and I are joining up together for a group photo show at the @onegrandgallery’s loft space.
We’ve been gathering framed prints and photographs that have been sitting in our studios, on shelves, and storage spaces to share with you and we’re offering them at deep discounts.
All items for sale are negotiable. We’d rather have these photos displayed on your walls than sitting in storage boxes. Free beer and refreshments by @cheapfunbeer and @drinkweird will be served until we run out.
So come on out Saturday evening or Sunday and join in on the good times.

This image reflects a pair of tributes. One stems from the barbecue artwork that is meaningful to family, friends, and fans of the late, great skateboarding soul known as Joe Lopes. The other is a visual acknowledgment that skateboarding will continue to push forward in progressive, stylish, and powerful movements from its youth.
