You lived your life unapologetically in a world so far from my own. An environment I’ll never fully understand. A life you chose. Love you Dad, fly high.

“I quit doing meth and quit smoking so that I can get into surgery… “

That was the text from my 72yr old dad that set off a series of questions I didn’t know I’d been carrying. I went to Kansas City shortly after this to get answers. He was not around growing up. The two days filming this became the longest stretch we’ve ever spent together in my adult life. What came out was both clarity and closure.

Another Veteran, lifelong battle with addiction.

Here’s a trailer to a short series I’ll be rolling out. Share with someone you think would resonate.

What about the most important era in a home’s history? Not the shiny new build many years ago. Not the curated restoration of the current era. But what the home was intended for and is often not thought of.

The tangible history of morning rituals, birthday parties, family arguments, cannonballs into the pool. The durable materials with patina that have gotten to the end of their wear.

These are the era’s that excite me. What gives me inspiration for materials I choose. The design meant to be lived in and carry what life throws at them.

More from my continuing Honoring Hands project.

With a growing number of tradesmen aging out of work, there’s a crucial need for the young generation to come in. There’s going to be a point where the old crew aren’t teaching enough of the youth.
