Baron is pleased to announce the reissue of Kyoichi Tsuzuki’s photobook Love Hotels. It is now available as a coffee table edition. This volume preserves Tsuzuki’s important documentation of Japan’s love hotels. In the early 2000s, editor and photographer Kyoichi Tsuzuki set out to document a disappearing part of Japanese urban life: retro love hotels whose interiors blended fantasy and er*ticism. By photographing seventy-three rooms with distinctive décor—rotating beds, mirrored ceilings, and themed interiors—Tsuzuki preserved a record of a world being reshaped by changing tastes, regulations, and commercial pressures. The special edition of ‘Helmut Lang Archived Dispersed’, is an immersive book edited from more than 10,300 photographs of original Pre-Spring / Summer 2005 Helmut Lang designs photographed by Joakim Andreasson over the course of three years, between 2015-2017, as well as related documents.

The book encompasses a visual encapsulation of apparel and accessories that were salvaged from a now infamous 2010 fire that ripped through the SOHO (New York) building that housed the former designer’s archive and were years later sold off. The photographs by Andreasson, candidly prepared as visual support for these sales, serve as an important and inimitable survey of Helmut Lang designs, with an edit pre-determined by catastrophic circumstances.

This expanded edition features an additional 1,000 photographs—primarily close-up images that further illuminate Lang’s visual language and body of work. It also introduces a new essay on Helmut Lang by Valerie Steele, Director and Chief Curator of The Museum at FIT, New York. Andreasson worked with Steele before the fire to bring a significant selection of Helmut Lang’s archival pieces into the museum’s permanent collection. Get it bedside x B x #helmutlang

In 1989, aspiring painter Jeff Burton was looking for work, having just graduated from the Master’s program at CalArts. He chanced upon an ad for a production company seeking a stills photographer. Burton had arrived in Los Angeles two years earlier, aged 24, a Texas transplant with stars in his eyes, an obsession with vintage Hollywood glamour, and dreams of working on movies. Instead, he found himself working in ‘The other Hollywood’ with its own set of stars and notions of glamour. A world that delivered rather than just teased.

‘Glamour Shots’, published by BARON, is a collection of those cover images, removed from the means of production and set alongside others more recognisable from work Burton later exhibited through museums and galleries worldwide, and which resides in the permanent collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles) and the Guggenheim (New York). ‘Stay away from nothing’ explores the intimate relationship between Paul Thek and Peter Hujar through photographs, letters, postcards, and ephemera spanning 1956–1975. Combining Hujar’s iconic portraits with more than fifty personal letters and postcards from Thek, the book offers a tender, melancholic portrait of their lives as artists, lovers, and friends.

The publication traces their travels, creative development, and emotional bond—from early moments together in Florida to their years in New York, Italy, and Fire Island. Alongside celebrated images, many previously unpublished photographs reveal a more candid and playful side of their relationship. Together, the materials capture the beauty, vulnerability, and complexity at the heart of two major figures in postwar Queer art and culture. Get it bedside x B x #paulthek #peterhujar

Sally’s Hideaway was created by Sally Maggio (pictured) , who had earlier managed the influential 220 Club in the 1970’s-80’s at 220 West Houston Street. The 220 was known as a central gathering place for transgender nightlife and figures like Lou Reed and is often cited as one of the most important transgender/gay nightclubs of its era. Reed’s title track and album Sally Can’t Dance (1974) is said to have been inspired by Sally Maggio. Sally Maggio passed away in October 1993.

Created by Sally Maggio, Sally’s Hideaway became one of the most important spaces in New York’s trans and ballroom nightlife. Maggio had previously run the influential 220 Club, a legendary downtown gathering place frequented by figures including Lou Reed, with Maggio said to have inspired Reed’s track Sally Can’t Dance.

Later immortalised in the opening and closing scenes of Paris Is Burning, Sally’s became a defining space for a generation of performers, dancers, and nightlife legends including Dorian Corey, Consuela Cosmetic, Dominique Jackson, Hawaiian Angie, and Monica Mugler.

Photographed between 1991–1997, Lantelme’s images form a rare visual archive of a pivotal moment in queer and trans history. The book also includes an essay by Miss Tiger.
