Blackbox just won a second Apple Design Award, this time for Spatial Computing.

Blackbox is nominated for an Apple Design Award AGAIN, this time seven years later for visionOS! ⬜️

It is incomprehensibly wild to me how working on what was meant to be a side-project to learn iOS has utterly transformed my life, opened countless doors, and introduced me to the most talented, kindest people; some of whom I now get to work with daily as studio Shapes & Stories, defining and exploring the future of play :)

This leap into your living room would never have been possible without Robert Long‘s brains and tenacious problem solving, Dan Fountain’s beautiful math and game design wherewithal, Gus Callahan’s ear and attention to delightful sonic details, countless friends, and all the folks at Apple that helped us out along the way. #WWDC24

Blackbox, 11 million phones later is finally in your world, where it’s always wanted to be.

It has been a wild ride and such a pleasure to be a part of this launch. I have learned so so much (3D!) and finally ended up hiring a friend or two to help, not only to lighten the load of solo dev insanity, but to unlock new possibilities for Blackbox I previously couldn’t even conceive of.

For now, some much needed celebration and rest but more to come! Thank you all for making this possible,

Do you remember your first video games? Mine hold such special, formative, and vivid places in my heart; it can be hard to comprehend that Blackbox may be that for someone else. We live in such a wild time when our art can go so far and so wide without us ever knowing who it’s reached or touched. I’m happy to get to know so many of you that it has.
