“… even stumbling speech may strengthen a weak tongue.” Khalil Gibran
My son said “Mami, make the face and look out the window.” He proceeded to capture the moment.
We spoke about doing hard things this morning, and speaking up even when we think no one will listen. Speaking up even if others won’t agree- our confidence does not come from the approval of others- it comes from facts based on history and investigation. Revolutionaries in our lineage went against the tide and the normalization of the most heinous acts against humanity, often marginalized but given the realities people experienced these ordinary people turned freedom fighters were able to move people into organized struggle to change conditions of oppression and exploitation. We spoke about Palestine and what has changed, and what has remained, in the past two years.
We determined that …
Freedom isn’t a feeling, it’s a condition. We speak up because there is freedom in speaking our empathy, our love, our compassion for those who are oppressed- our people. We speak up despite a stumbling tongue because it is the right thing to do in the face of injustice. Our speech should move us and others into collective actions to advance our struggles.
“The face” for him has meant “mami means business.” And I do. The freedom, the total liberation of my people is what matters to me.
As we welcome this latest ceasefire agreement, we stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza and join the joy and relief felt at the prospect of peace. AND we must remember, peace must have justice. This ceasefire is a significant milestone, gained through struggle and after 732 days of slaughter. We must not forget. We have learned and grown in these two years, as a people and as a movement. Gaza has rehumanized us. We must take these lessons into a new stage of struggle. The fight isn’t over. The victory we must continue to seek is the liberation of Palestine.
Free Palestine! End apartheid! End the occupation!

When we launched the #votesocialist2024 campaign we were clear: this political intervention was a contribution to building an independent movement of working class people to fight back against our class enemies and build people power. This campaign is a contribution to revitalizing and strengthening our socialist movement.
Ultimately, people power in all its forms will be the only guarantee of a real democracy and the construction of our liberation. None of it- not a democracy that works for us or an economic system that prioritizes people over profit-is possible, if we are unwilling to build it.Liberation is fought for!
This campaign is an invitation to join movement, build organization, build the unity and confidence of the working class every day, and fight for all we urgently need and deserve. 🫡❤️ Onward until victory!

Movement fam!
Today (and always), I feel grateful and seriously humbled.
I am 40 (proudly! 😉) and I have been nurtured and taught by communities in struggle for 27 years. More than half of my life! Y’all... that is a serious realization.
It’s the realization that so many have offered, invested, walked with, taught, given tough and tender love to ensure my steadfast believe and commitment to class struggle.
I have learned about camaraderie, revolutionary patience and love (the agape type!), discipline and revolutionary optimism and hope. I have also learned about forgiveness- giving and receiving. God knows my comrades have extended enormous grace towards me when my deficiencies show up, and have lovingly taken the time to walk with me in my attempt to overcome them.
I have felt pain, disillusion, disenchantment and heartbreak... but I can honestly say, I have always found plenty of reasons to stay doing the work.
The work- in different moments, in different spaces, with several communities in different contexts- has sustained, strengthened and reaffirmed that this path of deconstruction and reconstruction is worth walking, and building. It’s also taught me about the long histories of interconnection and solidarity.
I may not say it often but... thank you to all of those (many on and off social media), some who have entered the ancestral world, the young and others more experienced 😉 who have given me orientation, called me on my shit, provided space for growth, gifted books, shared a meal, prayed for and over me, challenged me, and ... have simply believed that building new human beings in the process of building a new and better society is important.
May we continue to work within ourselves, within our communities towards building the new world we wish to see, with new and better human beings. Whatever you do... build with children and the youth in a way that leads them to “stick and stay” ... hasta la victoria! ❤️❤️

“In 1804, Haiti was the litmus test for those who were fighting slavery. In 2026, Cuba is the litmus test of those who fight for humanity and the planet.”
We stand in solidarity with the Cuban people and their socialist project. We demand an end to the US blockade and NO WAR ON CUBA!

Raúl Castro’s indictment is a pretext for war. It is manufacturing consent for military action. International law protects nations defending their airspace and territorial integrity. The US was warned 30 years ago, refused to act, and knew exactly what would happen. Yet it’s hypocritical for the US to indict Raul Castro for legally defending Cuban territory while it sheltered Luis Posada Carriles, a CIA operative and known terrorist who bombed a plane killing 73 people, bombed hotels in Cuba, plotted assassinations, and died free in Miami, never indicted.
None of the aggression against Cuba is about national security or defense. These acts are part of a long history of collective punishment against the Cuban people for choosing self-determination and sovereignty.
We must demand that the Trump administration Let Cuba Live! Hands Off Cuba! No War on Cuba!

The Trump administration is looking to start an unprovoked war against Cuba. This act of aggression is part of a larger strategy to destroy Cuba’s right to self determination and sovereignty.
Cuba does not represent a threat to the national security of the US and it is not preparing to attack the US. Cuba does not have the military capacity to threaten the US.
For over six decades, the Cuban people have been collectively punished by US government administrations for defending their right to live and build their national project independent from US interests. The Cuban people have the right to live in peace.
Join us and many around the world in demanding that the Trump administration Let Cuba Live and End the Blockade.

🇨🇺Join us for an evening of education, discussion, and fundraising with Claudia De la Cruz, the Executive Director of IFCO/Pastors for Peace and former socialist candidiate for President!
We welcome all justice-minded people to join us for a conversation that will draw crucial connections between the fight against ICE terror, the fight for Palestinian liberation, and the fight to end the terroristic blockade imposed on the Cuban people by the US government. As Trump continues to strangle Cuba through tighter, life destroying sanctions, now more than ever, it is critical to show up in solidarity for our Cuban neighbors.
Rev. Claudia De la Cruz, MDiv./MSW, will reflect on the history of the United States’ sanctions against Cuba, especially in light of last month’s humanitarian mission, alongside eyewitness testimony from local community members.
All funds will go to send medical supplies, solar panels, tools, and other essential materials to help ease the burden of our Cuban siblings.
🗓️ Monday, June 1
⏰ 6:00pm
📍Houston Liberation Center: 2903 Telephone Rd

Different year, stronger convictions!
Cuba is on my mind and heart more often than ever.
Trump is attempting to crush the Cuban revolution. But the Cuban people are made of another material unknown to Trump and his genocidal gang. They are made of dignity and bravery. Only people filled with dignity, grace and resolve can withstand the level of aggression that the US has imposed on the Cuban people for over six decades. NO ONE should have to experience this, but the Cubans have, and they have done it with the deepest integrity and sense of humanity.
Cuba will not surrender. And we will NOT surrender our solidarity. Long life to the Cuban revolution! Let Cuba Live!

What Cuba Did for Africa
Cuba is facing one of the most difficult periods in its modern history. But long before the blackouts and shortages, this small Caribbean island sent help to stand with African nations during some of their darkest moments. Whether you agree with Cuba’s politics or not, its role in African liberation and global solidarity is impossible to ignore.
