The magic of the Venice Biennale lies in its ability to transport us through the imaginaries of the entire world.
In 2026, out of 100 national pavilions, 50 come from the Global South and Oceania (including 13 African nations and 14 from Latin America and the Caribbean). We firmly believe that a biennial such as Venice only truly matters if it embraces a plurality of voices and reflects a multicultural world. This is why we have created an exclusive map of the Global South pavilions.
The title of the 2026 Biennale, conceived by Koyo Kouoh, “In Minor Keys”, seeks in particular to redirect our attention toward overlooked narratives—those less often heard: the stories of countries from the Global South, of minorities, and of cultures that have been made invisible.
May this edition be, for you, a time of discovery and encounters with these non-Western narratives. As Gilles Deleuze wrote, “We do not travel to rediscover ourselves, but to encounter unknown becomings.” It is this experience that we invite you to explore through our selection of Global South pavilions.
Wishing you all a wonderful Biennale, and of course, we look forward to welcoming you to our Venice gallery to share a glass of spritz together. ✨

🔛VENICE⎮ May 5th - June 27th, 2026⎮Hassan Hajjaj : “Venice, 1447”
We are thrilled to share some views of Hassan Hajjaj’s exhibition at our Venice gallery, “Venice, 1447”.
This exhibition, coinciding with the opening of the Venice Biennale and in dialogue with its theme In Minor Keys, can be understood as a reflection on the complexities of postcolonial identity and cultural fluidity, offering a nuanced exploration of the tensions and possibilities inherent in multiculturalism. Hajjaj’s practice engages with the socio-political realities of our time, yet does so with humor, generosity, and a sense of play, sidestepping the didacticism and rigidity often associated with identity-based discourse.

We’re delighted to present the newest series of paintings by Modou Dieng Yacine: Protagonist.
This series explores dual figures inspired by Senegalese wrestlers, reimagined as unstable, shifting bodies where Black identity dissolves into silhouette, transparency, and absence. The figures resist full visibility—at times, the viewer must search to perceive them—suggesting identities that are obscured, fractured, or withheld.
Traditionally emblematic of strength and sacred ritual, the wrestlers are depicted in self-distorted postures that expose psychological tension. Their battles unfold not only in the physical realm, but within the unconscious, where social pressures and internal conflict collide. Victory becomes ambiguous—less a moment of triumph than an ongoing negotiation with doubt.
You can discover this new series in our booth at 1-54 New York until tomorow, May 17th.

🦢 PARIS⎮April 25 - Jun 13, 2026⎮Hyangmok Baik : Have You Ever Fallen in Love ?
We are delighted to share highlights from Hyangmok Baik’s exhibition "Have You Ever Fallen in Love ?”, at our Paris gallery.
His canvases are constructed through layered compositions, flattened perspectives, and shifting colour relationships, resulting in images that feel both immediate and in constant tension. Drawing on biblical, mythological, and art-historical sources, he reactivates familiar motifs—figures, still lifes, fragments of bodies—by displacing and recombining them with banal or anachronistic elements, subtly unsettling their original meanings, while cultivating ambiguity in which fixed narratives dissolve into open pictorial fields where temporal and cultural references overlap.
Our Parisian gallery is exceptionally closed today but will reopen tomorrow, Saturday, May 16th.

Hyacinthe Ouattara’s creative practice spans a wide range of media—installation, sculpture, painting, drawing, performance, photography, video, and fragments of poetic writing. Deeply rooted in ancestral memory, Ouattara’s work explores the organic nature of life and the layers of memory that shape our shared humanity. For him, matter is never inert—it’s alive, pulsing with history and emotion, forming a connective tissue between individual and collective experience.
You can discover his work in New York, exhibited at 1-54 NY, from May 13th to 17th.

We are thrilled to share some views of Sumakshi Singh installation at the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, the National Pavilion of India, in “Geographies of Distance: Remembering Home”.
Offering a reflection on India’s layered cultural identity within an international context the India Pavilion 2026 gave Sumakshi Singh the possibility to create a new installation. The piece also represents a significant moment in Singh’s artistic trajectory, bringing together her ongoing investigations into memory, space, and the emotional politics of home. She revisits her destroyed childhood home in New Delhi through floating architectural fragments composed of white embroidered thread. Appearing like the trace of an absent structure, the work transforms recollection into spatial form—ephemeral, permeable, and emotionally charged. Intimate yet universally relatable, the installation contemplates the fading of domestic memory amid the accelerated urban transformations of India today.
The exhibition is presented by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in partnership with the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre and the Serendipity Arts Foundation. It will be on view at the Arsenale in Venice from May 9 to November 22, 2026.

🔛VENICE⎮ May 5th - June 27th, 2026⎮Soul Frequencies
193 Gallery is delighted to present the exhibition “Soul Frequencies”, a group show bringing together works by Adler Guerrier, Christa David, Hyacinthe Ouattara, Joana Choumali, Mehdi-Georges Lahlou, Modou Dieng Yacine, Roxane Mbanga, Shourouk Rhaiem and Thandiwe Muriu.
Drawing on Koyo Kouoh’s curatorial vision for the 2026 Venice Biennale, “Soul Frequencies” celebrates jazz, blues, soul, and Black musics more broadly as spaces of circulation—sites where sound becomes a vector of memory, resistance, and liberation. More than a repertoire, they constitute a way of being in the world: a shared frequency capable of connecting bodies, histories, and imaginaries. Bringing together nine contemporary artists from different regions of Africa and its diasporas, the exhibition invites viewers to inhabit these frequencies and experience their resonances.
🗓”Venice, 1447”, May 5th - June 27th

✨️193 Gallery is pleased to announce a special collaboration with artist Pilar Zeta, in partnership with Marmonil and the San Clemente Palace, Venice.
The project features the installation of three marble works from the Mirror series — Mirror Gate II, Egg of Breccia Fawakir, and Egg of Red Aswan Granite — in the magnificent gardens of the San Clemente Palace, creating a refined dialogue between sculpture and the natural environment. The artworks are produced by Marmonil in Egyptian stones through its expertise in extracting and shaping to bring life to the artist's vision.
Pilar Zeta is an Argentine artist and designer whose work explores symbolism, sacred geometries, and spiritual dimensions through essential and timeless forms.
