Sarah’s red Felt bike with rear rack and panniers was up to the task for a recent trip to @platthillnursery. She needed to pick up some irises and a couple other plants for landscaping in her yard. The panniers and a string bag were up to the task!

Join Active Transportation Alliance and Chicago Bike Grid Now for a drop-in bike repair and pedestrian and cyclist safety resource fair at Walls Turned Sideways in East Garfield. We will also do a short ride (walkers welcome as well!) to our local alderman’s office to advocate for increased pedestrian and bike safety measures in Garfield Park and Chicago’s West side.

In the last year, there have been 1,242 crashes on the West side alone, with over 400 injuries and 3 deaths. Traffic data for the city is even more concerning, with 108,604 crashes and 1,658 incapacitating injuries. Not only do we rely on biking and walking to get around the city, they are fun activities for all ages! We should not be risking our lives commuting to work or biking and walking with friends and family. Safer roadways are a small part of making our communities safer! Join us in advocating for safer roads and neighborhoods!
