My first shot as Brew Manager at the World Cup Tasters Championship 2026.

Nervous? Absolutely. But I came here determined to raise the WCTC standard.

I first stood on that stage back in 2014, as a competitor in Melbourne. I tried again—and failed. But my determination to raise Indonesia’s level in cup tasting never faded. So in 2016, I decided to move behind the scenes and prepare the sets instead.

Now, after more than 9 years as Brew Manager at the ICTC, I knew it was time to step up again—this time on the world stage. To see how far I can really go.

Today proved that everything I planned and prepared for led to this moment.

Cup tasting is never predictable or easy. It demands 100% effort, sharp strategy, and a calm mind. The finalists today were incredibly skilled—each one of them showed the world that anyone in that lineup could become the next World Cup Tasters Champion.

Your biggest enemy isn’t the person next to you. It’s the doubt inside you.

Today at the Golkar Cup Taster Championship in Klungkung, Bali, the finalists didn’t just compete. They cupped from the SAME bowls I brought home from Bangkok last week. They tasted the EXACT coffee I used in the WCTC final round.
The result? Humbling. Nobody got a perfect score.
But that’s the point. You cannot win what you cannot measure. Now you’ve felt the real standard. Now you know the target.
