Forests are disappearing fast.
In 2024 alone, 6.7 million hectares of tropical primary forest were lost.
That’s 18 football fields every minute.
Healthy forests sustain livelihoods, food systems and climate stability.

Equal treatment before the law is a fundamental human right.
Yet women 🌍 hold just 64% of the legal rights men have, leaving them unprotected.
No justice #ForAllWomenAndGirls means no justice at all.

Have you ever wondered what it means for land to be mined?
It means farmers can’t cultivate their fields. People can’t walk familiar paths. Families can’t return home.
📍This is the reality for millions of Ukrainians, as Ukraine is currently one of the most heavily mined countries in the world. Approximately 22% of its territory is potentially contaminated by mines and explosive ordnance.
Almost a year ago, we presented the UNDP documentary film “Land of Silence” at a special screening in Kyiv. Since then, the film has traveled to international festivals and special screenings in Tokyo, Copenhagen, and The Hague.
One of the things we heard most often from international audiences was surprise that a film about humanitarian demining could be told in such a deeply human and cinematic way. Many viewers admitted they had never thought about mined land beyond statistics or news headlines.

100 years ago there were approximately 100,000 wild tigers. 🐯
But by 2010, their population declined to as few as 3,200.
Today, their numbers are rising.
Together, UNDP, the Global Environment Facility, partners and communities are working to protect habitats, strengthen 🐅 conservation and unlock new conservation finance to support tiger range countries.

We need to protect our planet as if our lives depend on it, because it does.
Turtles are one of the oldest living reptile groups on Earth.
They contribute to the biodiversity of both marine and terrestrial ecosystems, such us maintaining coral reefs healthy by grazing on algae.
Their presence ensures the balance and biodiversity of these delicate habitats and attracts ecotourism, providing economic benefits to local communities.
They are also important indicators of ecosystem health. By monitoring turtle populations, scientists can assess the impact of pollution, climate change, and habitat loss.
Despite their incredible resilience, turtles face numerous threats today, pushing many species towards the brink of extinction. Habitat destruction, pollution, climate change, and illegal wildlife trade pose significant challenges to their survival.
Turtles often mistake plastic bags for jellyfish and consume it or become entangled in marine debris, leading to injury or death.
By taking steps to protect their habitats, we not only ensure their survival but also contribute to the overall health and resilience of our planet's ecosystems.

Biodiversity supports every part of human life, from food production and medicines to jobs, recreation & a livable climate.
People cannot thrive on a planet that is in crisis.
This is why we need to #ActNow, for our present and our future.
