It feels like a much earlier time than the future, but there’s no moving forward from here. Too late for mercy, hallucinations of regret appear, then disintegrate in your mind. Tongue Depressor is the prolific, and masterfully accomplished experimental duo of Zach Rowden and Henry Birdsey. Across countless releases they’ve established themselves as true architects of beautifully musical dread. Selection Room is their newest production and an especially woeful continuation of their uniquely haunted works.

Early morning, before activity spins across the day and marks it. Late night, when the pins that held meaning to the wall forget to hold the sentences that formed a prayer together. 

Daylight proceeds inefficiently, family questions and answers can only go so far. Our shared traditions become worn faceless like a coin that has passed through billions of hands. The touchstone loses it’s shape and becomes a little ridiculous. But this almost unrecognizable form has been carved by our devotion and affection, that we returned so many times to caress it.  These irregular dips in the center of the steps, these unrecognizable forms are us.

It feels good to be in the void.Distant cartoon broadcasts explode from someone else’s memory.Slapping the side of the TV won’t help you get a clear picture this time.
