We’re building the future of pelvic health, together.
Huge thanks to Dr. Rebeca Seagraves @rebecasegraves_ and the Pelvic Health Network @pelvichealthnetwork for spotlighting what makes Origin’s model so powerful: expert, collaborative care that meets patients where they are.
With our expansion into occupational therapy, we’re continuing to raise the standard of pelvic health care across the U.S.—and we’re hiring.
If you’re a PT or OT who’s ready to be part of something bigger, we’d love to meet you.

Have you been formally introduced to your pelvic floor yet? If you haven’t, that’s why we’re here.

Your pelvic floor is a complex set of muscles, ligaments, tissues, and nerves that stretch like a hammock from the pubic bone to the tailbone and between the sit bones.

These are the FIVE major functions of the pelvic floor:
💖 Sexual Function
💧 Bladder & Bowel Control
🪢 Circulation
🤝 Stability

Nearly one-third of women seen in primary care have at least one pelvic floor disorder — yet routine screening for prolapse, sexual dysfunction, and pelvic pain remains inconsistent, and about half of referred patients reach specialty care having received no prior treatment (Kenne et al., 2022; Prentice et al., 2019).

The gap isn't indifference. It's a combination of limited time, training, and referral infrastructure. And it's closeable.

Pelvic health physical therapy is first-line, evidence-based, and minimally invasive — and earlier referral measurably changes patient outcomes. PCPs and OBGYNs are the front door. A few screening questions and a timely referral can redirect a patient's entire care trajectory.

If you've been avoiding the weights room because of pelvic floor symptoms — leaking, pressure, prolapse — this one's for you.

The research is clear: resistance training is not contraindicated for pelvic floor dysfunction. In fact, a survey of nearly 4,000 people found that those lifting heavier weights were less likely to report prolapse symptoms than those lifting light. And a randomized controlled trial found that combining pelvic floor muscle training with moderate-intensity weight training resolved stress urinary incontinence faster than pelvic floor training alone.

The 2026 ACSM position stand — the first major update to resistance training guidelines since 2009, based on 137 systematic reviews — also confirmed that you don't need a perfect program. Consistency, effort, and full range of motion are what move the needle.

You don't have to choose between lifting and pelvic health. A pelvic floor PT can help you do both.

May is Masturbation Month and we think it's a good time to say this out loud:
Pleasure is part of pelvic floor care.

If solo sex feels uncomfortable, painful, or like something your body just isn't cooperating with — that's information. A tight or poorly coordinated pelvic floor can make any kind of penetration or stimulation feel like work instead of pleasure. And it's treatable.

As Origin pelvic floor therapist Dr. Sarah Clampett puts it: "Pleasure and sexual intimacy can be addressed as part of pelvic floor care. You can talk to your pelvic floor therapist about sex, and be informed about the science behind pleasure and arousal throughout your care."

There's no TMI. There's just care that actually addresses the full picture.

Most pelvic floor symptoms don't disappear on their own, they get more complex. The earlier care happens, the better the outcome.

Dr. Uchenna Ossai, PT, DPT breaks down exactly what primary care providers can do differently — and why it matters for patients.

That dragging feeling after a workout isn't something you have to push through. Pelvic pain and pressure after exercise are signs your pelvic floor muscles may need support — not rest from the activities you love.

The good news: pelvic floor PT can help you stay active AND feel better doing it.

Women's Health Week is a good reminder that preventive care includes your pelvic floor.

Most people wait until something feels seriously wrong before booking a pelvic floor PT. But a baseline assessment — even when you feel fine — gives you a picture of your "normal," helps you catch small changes early, and sets you up with a plan before issues compound.

Your pelvic floor supports your bladder, bowels, core stability, and sexual function. It deserves the same proactive attention as the rest of you.

The Origin blog has the full breakdown on who should get a baseline, what to expect, and when.
