The doors are open. Atomic Ranch on the Road in partnership with @midmodcolorado is coming to Denver — and we’re unlocking seven of the most extraordinary mid-century homes in the city across two legendary neighborhoods.

June 12 & 13 · Arapaho Acres & Arapaho Hills · Denver, CO
Walk the rooms of homes shaped by architect Joseph Gerry Dion and builder Edward Hawkins — including his own personal residence. Explore a home that has never before been open to the public. And experience Arapahoe Acres, the crown jewel of midcentury Denver communities, alongside its sister enclave Arapaho Hills — the only two mid-mod neighborhoods in Denver on the National Historic Registry.

Moss rock. Flagstone. Warm Colorado brick. This is Denver modernism at its finest, and it’s only happening once.

🎟️ Tickets in bio — they won’t last long.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to our fun and fabulous event in Indian Canyons for @modernil ‘s amazing newly completed Hal Lacey home. We talked all about restoring this early 70s gem and Lou’s process of making his retro dream@home come to life— and of course all the fun he had filling it with his vintage treasures. We love a home packed with personality and passion. Huge thank you to our event sponsor @florsquares for your support, the beautiful rugs in the home and the fun swag for our guests!

A special day with our friends at @atomicranch exploring the Eichlers in Orange through architecture, design, classic cars, music, and community.

From walking iconic homes to hanging at the @eichlerpoolhouse with coffee + treats from @eatdeaux and select sounds by @djerok , this one felt like a true reflection of what makes this community special.

Big thank you to Atomic Ranch, the Fairhaven neighbors, everyone who opened their homes, and everybody who came out to spend the day with us.

More moments like this soon ✨

“Two of the most common things we hear from customers are that they’re still happily using the Heywood-Wakefield pieces that they inherited from their parents, and that they had no idea we were back in business,” says co-owner Tom Belletete, a third-generation Massachusetts woodworker who has been building new Heywood-Wakefield furniture since 2012.

Heywood-Wakefield’s roots reach back to 1826, and while it grew to be one of the largest furniture companies in America, the company went bankrupt in 1980. In 1992, preservationists Andrew Capitman and Margaret Doyle, along with Leonard Riforgiato (a furniture refinisher who specialized in the company’s mid-century blond pieces), bought the name and trademark out of court receivership and began producing a selection of the companies most-striking 40’s and 50’s designs.

Today, every piece is made-to-order in Belletete’s Winchendon, MA furniture factory, which his father and uncle built in 1958. “This area was once the epicenter of the American furniture industry.Heywood-Wakefield, Conant Ball, Nichols & Stone, S. Bent, and F.W. Lombard were all based around here and it was a magnet for craftspeople. My dad used to tell me that you could quit your job at one furniture factory at the beginning of your lunch break and find a new one before the break was over.” Today, Heywood-Wakefield is one of the very few still operating in the area but Tom is doing his part to continue the New England craft tradition; he regularly hires and trains graduates of the nearby technical high school’s Cabinetry program.

In a market flooded with furniture built to be replaced, Heywood-Wakefield stands for the opposite. The company is dedicated to preserving that legacy by creating new pieces that incorporate updated technology and contemporary tastes.

Whether you’re a longtime collector completing a set, a first-time buyer drawn to the clean warmth of mid-century modern design, or simply someone tired of furniture that won’t make it to the next move — Heywood-Wakefield deserves your attention. Again.

Everybody loves a mod time capsule, but in this market, is that a better buy than a mcm that’s been renovated? It depends. @kimberretrorealtor breaks it down for us and shares things you might not have considered when it comes to evaluating and investing in an original mcm versus a remodeled one.

On June 12, 13 and 14, Atomic Ranch on the Road along with @midmodcolorado opens 7 landmark homes across Denver's only two nationally registered mid-mod neighborhoods. Rooms that have taken decades of careful ownership to get exactly right. One that has never been open to the public before. And the personal home of the builder who shaped the entire neighborhood. There's a reason these homes have been on people's wishlists for decades.

You can admire Arapaho Acres and Arapaho Hills from the street. But the interiors — the part that makes mid-century design sing? Those you have to walk into.

The details are everything. Come see them in person.
