HIII EVERYONE!!!! we are beyond grateful and proud to announce that SPEAKABLE (2024) screened in Paris a few weeks ago and has won a second award this season as a nominee for Best Documentary at the International Indie Film & Screenplay Festival🌟

‘The Paradox of Womanhood’, a piece I wrote when I was 19, was initially debuted in @speakabledocumentary this past June. It feels extremely relevant right now and I want to sharethis clip in hopes of fostering a safe space for women, and all of those who are feeling particularly small and fearful right now.

I have always felt conflicted about my “role” as a white woman in America. What I felt pressured to do in order to “maintain peace” clashed immensely with what my heart desired and brain thought was just. Do not accept things because “that’s the way it is”. It is imperative that women, especially young girls, are taught to confidently speak for themselves and not tolerate subordination as the price to pay for other’s successes. Reclaim yourself using your own words and not what others have to say about you.

Stop believing you have to give up parts of yourself or hold back in order to keep others happy, or “tolerant” of you. Sisterhood is what will keep us strong and protected. It takes serious strength and guts to be gentle and kind. It took years of learning and I am still trying to accept that sensitivity and femininity are great strengths not everyone is comfortable leaning into. That is what takes maturity.

Thank you to @catbatal , @becca_melkonian , and everyone else who brought this empowering documentary to life. Thank you to all the women and friends in my life who have stuck by my side and encouraged me to keep going no matter what I am up against. It is because of these loving people I feel liberated in my own person, even though bigotry and misogyny attempts to stop me in my tracks. I will not let it. I will not allow any policy to define or change my value as a human 🫶

Love, compassion, and maintaining zero tolerance for prejudice is what will keep us strong. 💜
