Meet Softwarewolfe, a Tio’tia:ke-based artist and DJ known for genre-fluid sets rooted in global club culture. In 2024, he founded @fence_hop, a PWYC open-format rave series held in unconventional spaces, bringing together DJs, VJs, and a broader ecosystem of multidisciplinary contributors. Drawing from his early years as a bassist and singer in a political punk band, his work reflects a belief in music’s power to mobilize, cultivating dancefloors for connection and collective liberation.

PROTO:FEST, c’est une fin de semaine complète de classes, jams, table ronde et performances pour célébrer 1 an de prototype(s) — et lancer une campagne de financement essentielle pour préserver le proto studio.

Le proto studio, c’est un lieu de création, de danse, de rassemblement et de communauté. Un espace autogéré par un collectif d’artistes, indépendant des structures gouvernementales, qui existe grâce à l’élan de celles et ceux qui y croient.

Un an après l’opération sauvetage qui a permis de garder le studio dans les mains de la communauté artistique, le proto continue d’incarner ce dont Montréal a cruellement besoin : des tiers lieux vivants, poreux, où l’on peut se déposer, croiser des inconnu·e·s, provoquer des rencontres hasardeuses et nourrir des collaborations atypiques.

Depuis maintenant 6 mois, le collectif de DJ @fence_hop collabore avec @proto_studio_ pour offrir WARM UP 🔥💦, une expérience de danse et de DJing qui réchauffe, rassemble et active la nuit comme le corps.

PROTO:FEST is a full weekend of classes, jams, a roundtable, and performances celebrating 1 year of prototype(s) — and raising funds to help sustain proto studio.

Proto is a community-run space for creation, dance, gathering, and experimentation, operating independently from government funding. Born from last year’s rescue mission, it responds to a real need in Montréal: third spaces where artists can land, meet, collide, and collaborate.

For the past 6 months, DJ collective @fence_hop has been teaming up with @proto_studio_ to bring WARM UP 🔥💦, a dance + DJ experience that’s become a beloved monthly ritual.
