In honor of the Devil Wears Prada 2, resurfacing this video of me performing a recycling dance for Anna Wintour. And Eva Chen. And Diane Von Furstenberg, Paloma, Joseph Altuzarra, Mark Holgate, Chioma Nnadi and Andrew Rosen. There is no sequencing of these names that eases the blow. Just know I practiced this dance for weeks in my mom’s living room.

I have been too daunted to share this journey because there were 10,000 steps and so many of them were so unpleasant and awful I didnt document them.

Here they are!
Demo ceiling
Remove rubble and bring downstairs to dumpster
Insulate attic
Add electrical to the peak (one day pick overhead lights)
Remove attic fan
Take apart and reassemble stained glass window
Put in stained glass window from an old barn in CT!
Shiplap ceiling
Sand floors completely
Strip wallpaper
Fix loose and damaged plaster
Caulk
Prime and paint walls (I used a beautiful mineral primer and white limewash from @alkemispaint)
Prime knots with Zinser shellac based primer x3 so the knots don’t bleed through
Paint ceiling
Wet floors to water pop
Sand floors again
Mix blue dye (W. D. Lockwood) until perfect shade is discovered
Using a 2 inch foam brush rapidly apply analine dye
Seal with Shellac to make the dye color fast
Sand again (again)
Seal with Vermont Naturals PolyWhey
Cry, laugh, ruminate, maybe some day decorate

Help me design this… ✨office✨!!!!!

I’m kind of leaning towards a cottagey white trim (everything will look fresh and less creepy with any paint on it) because the handsome wallpaper is powerful. But maybe one needs to combat handsome with something fun and quirky? A statement ceiling? Color behind the bookshelves? A little design on the trims? Or are we just going white with a fun rug?! Ahhhhh

Also, if anyone has ideas about how to make this cabinet into amodular desk this is all a social experiment so please pipe up.
