I was DANCING this Winter Season@nycballet

What a gift it’s been to experience all these different works with these special artists

and I couldn’t have asked for a more exciting way to finish the season than by being promoted to Principal Dancer (thank you for all of your kind messages)

No one knew quite what to expect when, in March 2025, @nycballet announced that Royal Danish Ballet principal @rtomash would be joining the company that fall, as a soloist. Tomash, who took a year of absence in Copenhagen to expand his horizons, was not well known in the U.S. He had not previously worked with either of NYCB’s choreographers in residence, Justin Peck or Alexei Ratmansky. He arrived in New York City as an unknown quantity.

But Tomash did not stay under the radar for long. Since his first performance last September, he has debuted in 18 roles, everything from the adagio movement in “Symphony in C” to Christopher Wheeldon’s “Continuum” to Jerome Robbins’ “Dances at a Gathering.” Tomash has originated roles in world premieres by Jamar Roberts and Tiler Peck, and danced in new ballets by Justin Peck and Alexei Ratmansky.

Learn about his approach to new roles, storytelling, and Balanchine partnering at the link in our bio. ⭐

When I was a student @nbs_enb this was one of my favourite pieces to dance.

I was back at the school a few weeks ago during some time off and the nostalgia came rushing in once I entered the building. What a beautiful space it was for me to grow up in , both as an artist but more importantly as a person.

Here’s a clip from my audition reel back in 2017.

Dancing side by side with @teaganrt and @chuksforshort
