THE GREAT WHITE IS BACK

Rob “The Great White” Boardman is officially back in the trigon and he’s heading to Bristol looking to make a fucking statement. This ain’t some return for the sake of it this is about war. He’s signed with BKB and trust me, he’s coming to rip through anyone that stands in front of him.

We’ve seen him in with the best at BKFC that scrap with Karl Thompson proved he’s got bollocks of steel and he’s still dangerous as fuck. Before that loss he was on a rampage, folding lads with those big bastard hands and walking them down like a shark in shallow waters. This lad don’t move backwards, and he don’t know how to coastit’s chaos or nothing when Boardman’s in there.

And the stakes couldn’t be higher for his return — he’s not easing back in, he’s been matched with ranked #3 heavyweight Volodymyr Skurtu, a serious threat and no easy night for anyone. But that’s what makes this one even more lethal… Boardman don’t want easy. He wants war. He wants to fucking smash his way back into the top, and Volodymyr’s the one in the firing line.

BRISTOL fight fans have been promised a night to remember when bareknuckle boxing comes to the city.

Paulie Malignaggi, a two-weight world champion in gloved boxing, tops the bill against Tyler Goodjohn when promoters BKB bring a show to the Ice Arena on Saturday, September 6 that also features Dean Patterson and Rob Boardman.

Patterson has the backing of his home crowd when he meets veteran Paul Hilz in a rematch and Boardman returns to the city where he lived for a decade for a heavyweight clash.

Boardman had five of his six professional gloved fights in Bristol before deciding to ditch his gloves.

The 37 year old has signed with BKB and says he will have big support when he meets Volodymyr Skurtu in bareknuckle boxing’s trigon.

“I’ve got a lot of good memories of living in Bristol,” he said, “and have had messages off people I haven’t seen for years.

“They all want to see what bareknuckle boxing is all about.

“They’ve probably watched it on telly or read about it and now they want to see it for themselves.

“The promoters made a good decision coming to Bristol. There’s a massive boxing scene there and they will love bareknuckle boxing. You are guaranteed action.”

The trigon is the smallest surface area in combat sport and there’s likely to be a knockout when Boardman and Skurtu collide.

The Ukrainian has had back-to-back first-round knockouts and Boardman says he’s hitting harder than ever.

“I’m better heavier,” he said. “There’s more of a target for me to aim at and they don’t move around as quickly.

“I have the speed and the power to do well at heavyweight.”

The show also features Devon-based Pole Kamil Sokolowski, currently ranked as No 1 challenger for heavyweight champion Gustavo Trujillo.

There’s a chance Boardman and Sokolowski could meet, but first, Boardman has to get past Skurtu.

“He’s got heavy hands,” said Boardman, “and I know I can’t be complacent.”

Boardman says that whatever happens at Planet Ice, it’s unlikely to be as hard as the night he fought George Groves.

“I fought him three times in the amateurs,” said Boardman, “and after the last one I was eating soup through a straw for a week. He had horrible power.”
