"Solidarity" (2023) by Hank Willis Thomas (@hankwillisthomas) is featured in the "Rising Up: Rocky and the Making of Monuments," now on view at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (@visitpham).
-
Curated by Paul M. Farber, director and co-founder of Monument Lab, the exhibition traces more than two millennia of artists’ engagement with boxing and celebrity.
-
Farber explained the work's resonances to the @nytimes, saying “It’s a fighter’s fist that, turned upward, is connection, but also global liberation. It’s also a pose that has been appropriated by political leaders to reflect strongman tactics.” He added that Thomas had zeroed in on a way to see art "as a meeting place to understand both what connects us and what complicates us."

Experience Los Angeles through Kohei Nawa's eyes in our new film, produced on the occasion of the artist's solo exhibition "Photon Camp," currently on view at our LA gallery 🎥.

Visiting Pink's Hot Dogs and Mulholland Drive, two of the city's quintessential spots, he speaks about his relationship to LA through food, culture, and film, including the work of fellow Pace artist David Lynch.

Back at the gallery, Nawa shares that the concept for his installation, which features new sculptures from his PixCell and Prism series, is "seeing the whole world as being made from cells, or fundamental parts."

"These cells help us see the world through new eyes," Nawa says.

Watch the full film at the link in bio.

Leo Villareal’s (@leo_villareal, @leo_villareal_studio) “Illuminated River” is a vibrant, long-term installation on view across nine bridges along the Thames in London 📍.
-
Spanning the London Bridge to the Lambeth Bridge, “Illuminated River” features subtly moving sequences of LED light that reveal the beauty of the architecture of London’s bridges and their relationship to the river that flows beneath them, bringing to life aspects of the city otherwise hidden after dark.

In San Francisco, the artist’s “The Bay Lights”—which debuted in 2013 and is one of the largest public artworks in the world, spanning 1.8 miles of the Bay Bridge—has returned to the city for an additional ten years following the installation of a newly designed and fabricated lighting system.
