A couple weeks back we ran across a poignant op-ed in @bonappetitmag by @goodfriendsgoodfood @maryamandcompany that asks an important question…one that we asked ourselves when we we’re first starting our wine and hospitality journey. And then we came up with an answer…
Localism has always been our thing. Pride and care for our little corner of the world and the people, places, and things that make it what it is. From @westsidewinos to Offhand we set an intention to rep and support our local wine scene. With the exception of Mexico, we only pour domestically made low intervention wines, with a logical focus on the West and Pacific Northwest coast. Our program allows us to participate in and support an ecosystem of small producers and distributors/wine professionals, regions etc., all while building community and connection in the process. Equally important, it helps to reduce waste and minimize our carbon footprint. Not saying this is or should be the only way - its just our choice - a holistic approach to our business that strives to mirror the values, ethics and practices of low intervention winemaking in our backyard…and perhaps, another way to think about permaculture.
We’re all we got ✨
Much love to our beautiful community and thank you to @goodfriendsgoodfood @maryamandcompany for this insightful piece. Visit her bio for the link!

I spun @offhandwinebar for the first time in May 2024 after meeting @jleathers_ while he was slinging wine at his day job. I had turned 40 the prior month. As a result I’ve been spinning at Offhand on a monthly basis for my entire 40s so far and, two years in, I’m even more grateful to Justin, @teronstevenson and @dizgibraltar — and the brilliant staffers that put up with me once a month — for the hospitality, the taste (musical and culinary) and the fun.
I’ll be there this 5/14, 2nd Thursday of the month as usual.
This post scored by the second track I ever selected at the bar (because you know the first one was some vinyl-only shit I got from City Country City in Shimokitazawa).

Much love to our friends @nasungsoolco for coming through to hang with us last weekend (happy 5 years yall! 🫡). We’re big fans of their natural, CA made, traditional Korean rice wines and soju over here, and love how they honor tradition and challenge convention at the same time. If you’re looking for a fantastic makgeolli or have never tasted it you know where to find it…your favorite little wine bar on the westside of course!✨
