Our last service will be tonight, Thursday April 30. 

This is a deeply emotional time for us, but we are profoundly grateful to our community of guests, suppliers, partners, artists, and especially our staff, for this special place we have built together. The support and love shown to us, particularly over these past few months, has been a true inspiration.

Obladee has brought great joy and community to many people over 15 years, and we trust that this spirit of generosity and care lives on. We are very proud of our collective achievement and feel blessed to have had this experience with all of you.

Unfortunately, we did not get the injunction.

We are deeply disappointed by this and are in the process of figuring out our situation. We will be in touch very soon with an update. 

In the meantime, we are open tonight as usual.

Hi Everyone,

As many of you know, Obladee received an interim injunction from the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia which prevented eviction by our landlord, Starfish Properties, until April 30.

On April 27 & 28 we are returning to Court for an interlocutory injunction to stop the lease termination and eviction until such time as the matter can be properly decided by the Courts.

Thank you to our Staff and Community for your ongoing support - it has meant everything to us ♥️

We will update you all when we have more to share.

A moment for our Ricotta Cheesecake 💛

This is an Italian style cheese cake made with a Ricotta custard rather than traditional creamed cheese (American) or fromage blanc (French). The ricotta comes from local Italian cheesemaker Ciro Commencini, and the base is a molasses cookie. We top it with a Marmalade and Roasted Pistachio Crumb 👌🏼

The result is a fresh, light and not-too-sweet dessert. The whipped ricotta texture can sometimes surprise people - but it’s intentional and offers a different experience from the American or French styles we might be more used to 🧀

Best with a fruity or off-dry white wine. Sparkling could work too! 🍊

New BTG! 💫 2015 Loimer Grüner Veltliner Spiegel from Langenlois in the Kamptal region of Lower Austria 🇦🇹

100% Gruner Veltliner from a specialized parcel of vineyard called Spiegel at 260-270m elevation on Loimer’s south facing slopes with loess soils (sand, silt, and a little clay) ☀️

After a difficult 2014 vintage, 2015 was warm and dry giving complex, ripe fruit, with ample acidity ⚡️

The grapes were hand picked and fermented spontaneously over 12-24 on the must (10% of the grapes for a full 4 weeks) in large, used barrels. The wine was then aged in used acacia & oak barrels on full lees for 6 months, and on the fine lees for 4 months 🍈

This is peak Gruner made to age 🙌🏼 Expected to drink well through 2030-35 and we’re in a perfect little drinking window now 😊

Think: fleshy flavours of ripe yellow apple, steely minerals, wild honey and soft spice with rounded texture and medium acidity 🍎🍯

Be sure to stop in and try this special and limited beauty!
