10 years ago we premiered IT"S ALL TRUE. based on the complete Live Archives of Fugazi (over 850 concerts). To mark the occasion here is a slice of the original show talking about racist wars and what is gained by protesting.
We piled material together, using everything on these tapes except the songs themselves. Chock-a-block with random feedback, lazy drum thwacks, concerts shut down by police and fighting, agitprop speeches by political organizers of the shows. The score was fully notated and conducted, the only way we could keep the chaos somewhat together.
Featuring the unstoppable quartet of Catrin Lloyd-Bollard, Avi Glickstein, Daniel Allen Nelson, and Deborah Wallace. And the mighty Dither Guitar Quartet flanked by two savage drummers: Shayna Dunkelman and Clara Warnaar (originally Owen Weaver). Scenic design by Peter Ksander.
We premiered IT'S ALL TRUE in Norway at the Borealis Festival and did a run at La MaMa in 2018. Tours to London, Montreal, Austin, and Washington DC. An album was recorded and released on Slip Imprint/Warp records.
