Last week, I conducted William Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast with the @bozemansymphony and Symphonic Choir. On the first half was Debussy’s Clair de Lune transcribed by Stokowski and Mahler’s Rückert Lieder, sung gloriously by @iamlesterlynch

This was a highlight for my career. I knew Belshazzar’s Feast was epic, but I didn’t know it was going to be like THAT! I’ve never felt so much energy on the podium as I did on Saturday night for the first performance. My deep gratitude goes out to every member of the Bozeman Symphonic Choir for spending months learning this extremely difficult work. It wouldn’t have been possible without @conor_whalenconductor and his leadership 🙏

I was also deeply moved by Lester’s artistry and care for Mahler. Every measure was inspiring.

The orchestra was a spectacular, versatile, and brought the 🔥 to all three works.

I’m truly grateful to serve this amazing community in Bozeman, MT.

We removed two rows of seats to be able to expand the size of the orchestra and it was SO worth it!

It was great to welcome @nycballet principals @ilafreniere and @rtomash to Bozeman. Bravo to @montanaballet company dancers and cast! Melissa Bowman, your vision for MBC is inspiring and loved your artistry.

It is so fun to witness a band’s first experience hearing their music with orchestra. The crowd at @benaroyahall tonight was absolutely on fire for Head and the Heart AND the @seattlesymphony. It was so great to see these wonderful musicians again. A very successful and fulfilling Holiday Spectacular with @bozemansymphony . Meeting and working with @tenorterrence was an absolute treat and I can’t wait until we collaborate more in the future. @conor_whalenconductor had the Symphony Choir sounding fantastic.

These concerts are some my favorite to program and conduct. I love hosting from the stage, telling jokes and stories. In these concerts, I find the beauty in humanity through the lens of music making. We have more in common than what the internet leads us to believe. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! 🎄🎅🏾🍾
