Today, our Food, Hunger and Agriculture Program welcomed partners from Michigan, Illinois and New Mexico for a multi-state peer learning exchange focused on local food purchasing systems, approved supplier strategies and strengthening regional food economies.

Over the next two days, participants will move beyond high-level discussions and into the operational realities of implementation — including interagency coordination, supplier program design, evaluation metrics and long-term sustainability.

We’re especially grateful to the New Mexico Farmers’ Marketing Association for helping convene this exchange and create space for shared learning among states navigating similar opportunities and challenges.

These conversations help advance practical solutions that support farmers, expand institutional market access and strengthen resilient regional food systems nationwide.
