Bobo (@boboh0e ) & Toby (@alexandertoby_ ) are a DJ duo originally from Indonesia, Bobo from Bali and Toby from Bandung who found common ground through their love of underground electronic music. Now based in Naarm/Melbourne, the two have been making waves with their deep, vinyl-driven sets that blend Bobo’s gritty Detroit techno influences with Toby’s laid-back minimal house vibes.

It’s been a hot winter playing at prominent venues across Naarm including Miscellania, Waxflower Bar, Hope St Radio, Killing Time, and the closing party of D’Shut (RIP). We are excited to bring in the first ever edition of Mode Select @ Workshop with some of the finest local selectors and curators Naarm/Melbourne has to offer.

Azita (@az_you_do ) is a DJ and Creative with a love for all things 90s and 2000s – Tech house, prog, minimal, ethereal sounds, and the weirder, wonkier styles with dubby influences. Azita has showcased her sounds at formidable parties including Ultraviolet and the Warehouse Project. She also curates lineups as @amphi.music alongside her partner Billy, putting on shows at Revolver, Angel and Wax Music Lounge.

@thread.__curator and eclectic selector Makoyana (@intangiblethings_ ) has been a steady presence in the Naarm/Melbourne DJ Scene. This year has been especially busy for Makoyana, having played at the recent Reason’s to be cheerful with DJ Lloyd, @minima.arts party at Killing time, the closing party of the Gas and a sunset vinyl b2b with @skeleton_.bone at For the Cause. On digi and wax, expect an assortment of wiggly-floaty-techy tunes to keep the dancefloor on its toes.

As a founding member of T-break, Pnlp (@pn.lp) has been a part of running some of the premier bass, breaks and garage parties in Naarm/Melbourne. Wanting to explore a broader spectrum of the sounds he loves, Pnlp founded Mode Select to spotlight the best of the local scene and what it has to offer. As a selector, his style is deep and dynamic, bringing sets which blend techno, electro, broken beats and bass.
