Pauline Oliveros’s concept of the Sonosphere refers to the sonic or sonorous envelope of the Earth, encompassing all vibrations, natural or technological, that travel through the planet and beyond. It’s not just about sound as humans perceive it, but also encompasses a wider range of energies and vibrations, including electromagnetic and geomagnetic fields. Oliveros’s Sonosphere also incorporates the idea of a „listening body,“ where the human organism is seen as a receiver and resonator of these vibrations, both consciously and unconsciously.
