Membrane is a lounge chair designed by @LAYER_design for German furniture brand @ClassiCon.

Weighing just 3kg, the chair pairs a lightweight steel and aluminium frame with a stretched 3D woven textile. The cover is tensioned across the frame and secured with zips and fastenings, an innovative approach inspired by tent construction and performance sports products.

Membrane achieves a significant reduction in material use – replacing the foam-heavy construction of conventional armchairs with a more efficient, lightweight system.

Amass is a modular partition system designed by @LAYER_design for 100% Design auditorium during @l_d_f_official.

The system is designed to define space without closing it off, and is built from three simple modules that can be assembled in multiple orientations. For the 100% Design auditorium, 46,000 units were combined to form a permeable structure that accommodated talks while remaining visually open to the wider exhibition.

Inspired by the controlled randomness of natural systems, Amass enables walls, corners and varying densities to emerge from a single geometry. Designed for re-use, the system can be reconfigured and scaled across different environments.

Level is a re-configurable router designed by @LAYER_design as part of Concept T with @DeutscheTelekom Design and Customer Experience.

The modular elements include a display unit, WiFi-sensing element, mesh repeater and computational module for Web3 use cases, all of which are arranged in a base station. Level allows users to build a router around their specific needs and upgrade it as technology evolves.

Its playful geometric forms challenge the conventional language of high-tech devices, bringing a more intuitive and expressive presence to the connected home.

Recently, the @LAYER_design team held our annual Spring Social!

We made our way to the @vam_east V&A Storehouse to take part in a scavenger hunt with cryptic riddles that led us through the collection in unexpected ways. We then took a short walk to @Grow_Hackney for the scavenger hunt awards, lunch, drinks and a proper catch-up!

This week, we’re celebrating the CryoGlow face mask designed by LAYER with the @SharkBeauty design team being awarded in The Best Inventions of 2025 by @TIME!

To design its first skincare product, SharkNinja and LAYER worked with panels of dermatologists, aestheticians, behaviour scientists, and “skinfluencers”. Hundreds of prototypes and multiple clinical studies resulted in the CryoGlow LED face mask.

We’re excited to share that the CryoGlow face mask designed by LAYER with the @SharkBeauty design team has been recognised by @TIME in their The Best Inventions of 2025 awards!

The bestselling revolutionary mask uses three types of light to kill acne-causing bacteria and stimulate collagen production, which reduces fine lines. Unlike other LED masks, it also has cold zones under the eyes to reduce redness and puffiness.

The WW Carafe, created by @LAYER_design for Menu, was developed through more than 20 prototypes to refine the flow of wine and maximise aeration. As the wine pours through the stainless steel breather, it creates a striking “raining” effect that increases the surface area by eight times a normal pour, improving flavour while transforming a practical ritual into a visual spectacle. The carafe can also be used to filter ingredients for flavoured water.

Crafted from mouth-blown glass, WW also includes a set of stackable glasses that store neatly in the neck of the carafe for an elegant, compact table presence.

LABB is an innovative self-gripping strap for the @Apple watch, designed by @LAYER_design for Swiss start-up Noomoon, that redefines the fastening system.

The Loopless and Buckleless Band (LABB) replaces complex buckles and loops with a robust fixing system in which the two halves of the strap grip together across their entire surface. Injection-moulded in Switzerland from soft, durable fluoroelastomer, LABB combines functional ingenuity with a bold, graphic presence and is available in five mix-and-match colours.

Raytrace was an immersive installation designed by LAYER for @DektonbyCosentino, exploring the relationship between material, light and space.

Presented within the vaulted architecture of Ventura Centrale during a previous edition of Milan Design Week, the installation featured two monumental slabs of ultra-thin Dekton, forming a dramatic 24-metre long, 6-metre-high passageway. A dynamic caustic light pattern plays across the surface, evoking the shifting reflections of water and transforming the material into a living, atmospheric experience that brought the material to life for a new audience.
