TONIGHT! nola album release show @the_tigermen_den. 7pm. 🏹 my friend @landofplenty_studio shaved my head & shot this album cover in new mexico, where i built this headpiece with the help of woodworker @mikelagg & sewed these overalls with @landofplenty_studio’s design & pieces of my mother’s wedding dress. wings to me symbolize the future, forward movement, but i still wanted to bring pieces of the past. most of all, the hands are receiving, which is what i feel like this album/visual album is. so many friends made it come to life & i’m so grateful, especially to @mikebyrnedrums who wrote the music, produced, & mixed the record into completion.

i will have vinyl tonight, & it’s also available via @joyfulnoiserecs (link in bio). i am playing tonight with @mustachemam @whoisdys @ben__livingston @jeffreyliv4, who have made beautiful arrangements to perform this live! @scojosax kicks off tonight circa 7:30!

we all contain monsters, we all contain angels. sometimes i feel a divide between being an artist & a therapist in training, but i realize it’s all the same thing: a deep interest in lighting up the shadows of the unconscious.

tonight i’m opening for @acidmotherstempleofficial @gasa_gasa, performing songs i’ve written over the past decade, weaving existential drama of spirit & a sprinkle of jokes i’ve gathered from observing flight attendants. they’re my favorite actors of all the adult professions, because they perform angular pleasantry - a tight but airy choreography with the aim of containing our fear of death.

Today we recognize two years of an ongoing genoc|de and the continued resilience of the Pal3stinian people. We have seen unimaginable suffering and equally unfathomable acts of violence, torture, and apathy, which has left us transformed.

Not as cowering or fearful people, but individuals who know that love, care, and respect are central to human existence, and are worth fighting for. We stand with our courageous sisters and brothers in G🍉za, and will continue to struggle for Pal3stinian liberation!
