I have made many horrible choices due to alcohol and drugs that led me to prison, to hurt people physically and emotionally, dishonesty, and constantly hiding from my problems or police. I am ashamed about my choices but I know that it was because I was under the influence of alcohol and drugs and because I was hurting inside.

I started drinking and doing drugs for many reasons. First I was molested several times starting around the age of 5, my family broke apart and I was brought into a new home where I dealt with physical and emotional abuse. Going into freshman year I was bullied so I tried to kill myself because I hated my life. Then I found alcohol and it made me forget about all my problems. I felt like I was more social and fun because people seemed to want to talk to me more and laughed at the jokes I was always scared to say. It seemed to have solved all my problems.

As I got older I started drinking heavily and I started committing crimes such as vandalism, selling drugs, driving under the influence and caught many cases because of these actions. At age 23 it all caught up with me. I got into a mutual fight that ended really bad because I used a weapon. The DA looked at my rap sheet and threw the book at me. She sentenced me to 8 years and 8 months. Luckily I only did 7years ⛓️

After my prison time I came out way worse. I was very institutionalized and wanted to fight everyone. I raged against my then husband and partied hard because I felt like I never got to enjoy the bar experience. I caught a couple more cases and ended up divorced. That divorce broke me. I couldn’t stop drinking for 7 years. I could only go 2 days without it 🍺 then I found cocaine and that made me go into a dark place very slowly, making me super depressed.

17 months ago I quit drinking shortly after I quit doing cocaine. It was the best decision I have ever made!! I went to AA, I prayed every day and FOUND POSITIVE OUTLETSTHAT BRING ME REAL JOY AND PEACE such as creating shirts, skateboarding, trying to surf again, and listening to music. This is how SoCal Angels was born. I have learned to heal and now have fun differently. I hope my story helps others ❤️‍🩹 -Jayde
