Running for Recognition. 🏃‍♀️

Intermountain Health Emergency Room Nurse Angela Barnett is running across Utah to Emergency Departments to recognize the efforts of all ED nurses.

Running helped Angela process the "emotional weight of my work and reconnect with my purpose in nursing and helping others”. She hopes her efforts make nurses feel appreciated and a reminder to care for themselves as much as they do for others. 🫶

Many of our caregivers come from all walks of life. Four of them come from the same immediate family. ♥️

Four of the six Ketchesides work in our Trauma One emergency department at Intermountain Medical Center. They may have different shifts, but help provide great care to patients during a potentially scary visit to our ED.

Though they may not always see each other on the clock, they show up to their shifts with the same purpose. ♥️

Our brains are amazing problem‑solvers. 🧠
They help us decide what to buy at the store, build cities, and carry lessons from the past into new experiences.

That same strength can pull us into worry and think about things that aren’t happening right now and may never happen.

Mindfulness helps bring us back to the present.
It’s a way to notice what’s real in this moment, instead of getting lost in future “what‑ifs.”
A small pause can make a big difference. ⏯️

Their impact is felt far beyond a single moment. It’s felt in the lives they touch every day.

Thanks to your nominations, we honored our caregivers at our L.O.V.E. Awards event May 12.

Dr. Mark Ogilvie is an Interventional Radiologist and an expert in image guided interventions.

These interventions allow for rapid, minimally invasive removal of clot from the brain during a stroke. Working with a team of neurologists, emergency physicians, anesthesiologists and critical care doctors, Dr. Ogilvie helps determine if a patient is a candidate for a clot removal during a stroke.

“The work can be very satisfying when the clot is removed quickly and patients have improvement in function.”

He recommends that stroke prevention is best started with your primary care doctor who can evaluate and mitigate risks.
