I finally did it. After years of injuries, false starts, and wondering if my body just wasn’t built for this anymore, I had pretty much given up on the idea of ever running a marathon.

Then, on a random long run, I crossed paths with a guy training for Philly. He told me something simple that stuck: stop waiting for the “perfect” build and seize the opportunity in front of you. It didn’t matter that my mileage wasn’t textbook. It didn’t matter that my peak week was just 66 miles. I was healthy, I was fit, and life wasn’t going to wait any longer.

So I went for it.

Most people who know me also know how much I talk about my dad’s marathon career. His 2:42 at age 42 was the inspiration for me to start running and laid the ground work for my high school and college running career.

And today, I added my own chapter.
I’m proud to say I am officially a 2:42 marathoner… on my debut… at 42.

Grateful, humbled, and honestly still processing it. But mostly just happy I didn’t give up.

Yesterday was a full-on track nerd moment at Grand Slam Track—and I loved every second of it. Had a great time with the family, geeking out over seeing Josh Kerr, Yared Nuguse, Marco Arop, Matthew Hudson-Smith, and so many others in action.

But the absolute highlight? When my two nerd worlds collided: 90s house and track. Watching Jessica Hull and Georgia Bell charging down the finishing straight to Sandy B’s “Make the World Go Round” was unreal. Pure magic!
