What was once a quiet, timeworn heritage space has slowly been brought back to life. Over the past few months, we’ve poured our hearts into planning, restoring, and caring for this place — always trying to honour its history while imagining how it could be lived in again.

And it’s finally time for us to announce the opening of Grumpy Bagels 1905, set within the historic Diesel Room at Sentul Depot. A space to slow down, sit awhile, and enjoy good bagels in a building that holds so many stories.

BIO steps inside this beautifully rejuvenated 120-year-old heritage building, formerly used as a KTM electrical workshop, which gave rise to its name, The Diesel Room. We’ve always loved how colourful our little space gets throughout the day. Colours are everywhere, from the bagels fresh out of the oven to the tiny little details tucked into the corners of the shop. Somehow, all of it comes together to make our Jalan Imbi home feel warm, lively, and full of character.

POV: You’re our kitchen window at Jalan Imbi during rush hour. 🥯

Orders come in, hands move fast, and plates make their way out one by one through our little wooden window.

It’s busy and a little chaotic, but there’s a rhythm to it. Just us passing good food through, and you on the other side waiting for it.🐻🥯

In our kitchen, colours come to life through bagels, from earthy greens to deep purples, golden browns to soft neutrals, each one made fresh and full of character.

That’s how our mornings feel. The bubbling of bagels, trays moving in and out, the quiet rhythm of the kitchen doing what it does best.

Nothing added and nothing extra. Just raw and simple. 🐻

Our morning routine, two outlets edition.☀️

From Jalan Imbi to Sentul Depot, we start the same way every day. Rolling dough, shaping by hand, bagels into the boiling pot, then into the oven, slowly bringing each space to life before service begins.

We just love this part of the day, the quiet before the rush, the rhythm in the kitchen. And seeing all of you come in, one by one, filling the space with life, it just makes our hearts so full.🐻

We’ve heard so many of you asking and after two months of settling in and working closely with our team, we’re really happy to share that we’re now open every day.
