New Blog Post - Camera Flow Preview
Working on something new: Camera Flow—a web app to manage projects, inventory, and everything you need from prep to production. Includes 1,000+ rental houses and 700+ products, with tools to build kits and export them easily.
Want to learn more? Check out the latest blog post on Focuspulleratwork.
Another sneak peak of working progress: add equipment from a global equipment to your personal list. Add an owner (either a peronal owner) or a rental house.
Also scralls through a complete list of rental houses (over 1.000 from around the world) with address, phone, website and email information.
Still a lot of things in the pipeline, but it’s looking promising.
Working on some SQL Database for the backend of the Camera-Flow. Looks boring but is actually really excited to draw the logic behind the functions. Next step is to be able to add equipment to your projects or personal database, with serial numbers, ownerships and notes.
Today I made some good progress with the Camera Flow. But what is the Camera Flow? It is an extensive application which can help you to manage your entire shoot. Creating camera and tracking packages (with a full database of 750+ equipment items on the back), adding team members, creating camera log books and much more.
The app now features a comprehensive equipment catalog with detailed specifications for everything from cameras and lenses to grip equipment and accessories. You can build custom equipment packages for your projects, track serial numbers, and manage ownership information all in one place.
What I love most is how it streamlines the production workflow - no more spreadsheets or missing gear on set! The interface is clean and intuitive, making it easy to use even in the fast-paced environment of a film set.
Still in development, but already showing great promise for revolutionizing how production teams manage their equipment and workflows. Can’t wait to see where this goes! #FilmProduction #ProductionTools
When the DP and Focus Puller Jam together 😎
What you see here is the DP having his own hand unit to control the Zoom of the lens.
Meanwhile the Focus Puller is following all the action and making sure everything stays in focus!
Have you ever controlled your own Zoom or Iris with a handunit as a DP?
Tell us in the comments! 👇

Mastering the Art of Focus Pulling in a Tech-Driven Industry
In an age where cutting-edge tools have reshaped the focus puller's toolkit, it's easy to lean heavily on technology. But the heart of focus pulling still lies in mastering the craft, not just the gear.
Advanced systems deliver incredible precision and efficiency. Preston's lens control systems and Light Ranger allow for real-time focus tracking, ensuring flawless operation in complex shots. However, these tools are most powerful when paired with a strong foundation in traditional focus-pulling techniques.
Why is this balance so important? Technology can fail—batteries deplete, signals drop, or unforeseen complications arise. A great 1st AC must be adaptable, equipped with the skills to troubleshoot or operate manually when needed. Mastery of core fundamentals, including calculating distances, judging focus transitions by feel, and engaging directly with actors and lenses, ensures you’re never at the mercy of technology.
Tools like a range finder shouldn’t replace your expertise—they exist to enhance it. Think of them as augmentations to your skillset, not substitutions. For instance, when working on fast-moving or high-stakes setups, these tools save precious time. But your instincts and hands-on expertise remain irreplaceable.
The lesson? Invest time in learning and embracing new tech, but equally prioritize your foundation. It’s the unique combination of the two that makes a standout 1st AC capable of thriving in any filming environment.

**2. Build a System That Works for You**
Every great First AC relies on a strong organizational system. Label your gear, maintain detailed camera logs, and develop an intuitive workflow. These systems not only save time but also allow you to focus on the creative needs of the shoot instead of chasing details in the moment.
**3. Open A Clear Line to Your DP**
Your relationship with the DP is key. Effective First ACs foster trust through clear, concise communication. Ask the right questions at the right time, understand their priorities, and be proactive in addressing concerns. A strong partnership ensures smooth creative collaboration that benefits the overall production.
