Excited to kick off hair restoration treatments with Jeff Green from the Houston Rockets!

He’s documenting his journey, and I’ll be sharing real progress along the way—but here’s a look at his very first session.

One of the biggest advantages? Zero downtime. Treatments can be done seamlessly in-season, with no disruption to performance, training, or recovery.

For anyone dealing with hair loss but hesitant about medications—or who has experienced side effects—this is a powerful alternative. The Folix laser uses advanced, non-ablative fractional technology to stimulate hair growth externally, without systemic impact.

Stay tuned—this is just the beginning.

So many supplements out there! I’m a Harvard-trained, double Board Certified Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine physician, plus nutritionist for a prominent NBA team. Here’s what I think of the most popular supplements right now. Always consult with your doctor before starting on a supplement. #rank #supplements #collagen #omega #creatine #multivitamin

I get asked all the time if I personally do the treatments I recommend to my patients. The answer is almost always yes (except for GLP1 - I’m too skinny as it is!).

As a double board-certified MD and sports nutritionist, I take evidence-based medicine seriously. I’m not interested in trends, gimmicks, or treatments that only sound good on social media. If I recommend something in my practice, it’s because I’ve reviewed the data, understand the mechanism, and believe in the results enough to do it myself.

That includes Folix.

This non-ablative fractional laser works by creating controlled microchannels in the scalp to stimulate growth factors, increase blood flow, and support healthier, thicker hair growth over time. It’s one of the reasons we’re seeing such impressive improvements in hair density and shedding reduction in our patients.

I’ll always believe the best providers should be willing to stand behind the treatments they recommend — not just with words, but with their own experience too.

Meet the new GOAT. 🐐

Retatrutide is going to change the future of obesity medicine forever.

In Lilly’s new Phase 3 TRIUMPH-1 trial, patients taking the highest dose lost an average of 28.3% of their body weight over 80 weeks — with nearly HALF of participants losing more than 30% of their body weight. Those results are approaching what we typically see with bariatric surgery.

What makes retatrutide different? It’s all about the 3’s:
It’s a triple agonist — targeting GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors simultaneously. This multi-pronged approach means more satiety, more energy expenditure (read: calorie burn), and better overall metabolic health.

And as for side effects: the most commonly reported ones were gastrointestinal and similar to what we see with Ozempic and Mounjaro.

We are entering a new era of obesity treatment — one where these medications are increasingly behaving less like weight loss drugs and more like powerful metabolic disease therapies.

And importantly: this reinforces something obesity medicine specialists already know — obesity is not a failure of willpower. It is a complex metabolic disease with biologic pathways we are finally learning how to treat effectively.

Quoted in the The Wall Street Journal talking about one of my biggest concerns with the rapid rise of GLP-1 use: the dangers of prescribing these medications without proper medical oversight.

As an obesity medicine physician, I know these medications are life-changing when used appropriately. But they are not meant to be a “quick fix” ordered online without a comprehensive evaluation, nutrition guidance, body composition monitoring, and a long-term plan to preserve metabolic health.

Weight loss should never come at the expense of strength, function, or overall health. Protecting muscle mass requires:
• adequate protein intake
• resistance training
• individualized dosing and titration
• close follow-up
• and a provider who understands obesity medicine beyond just writing a prescription

Grateful to be part of this important conversation and to help advocate for safer, evidence-based medical care.

Thank you to @wsj for highlighting this issue.

New research is making one thing very clear: GLP-1 medications may do far more than help with weight loss.

A recent study published in JAMA Network Open found that patients taking GLP-1 medications had lower overall mortality and a reduced risk of breast cancer recurrence. That’s huge. We’re also seeing growing evidence for benefits related to cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, sleep apnea, fatty liver disease, and more.

But here’s the part no one wants to talk about:
these medications are being increasingly marketed to people who are already metabolically healthy.

And right now, we do not have evidence showing improved long-term health outcomes in people without obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or other high-risk metabolic conditions.

That doesn’t mean GLP-1 medications aren’t impactful in metabolically healthy individuals. But medicine should always be about risk vs benefit.

If someone has obesity or metabolic disease, the potential benefits often dramatically outweigh the risks.
But if someone is already healthy and trying to find ways to be healthier and reduce risk of future disease, we still do not know whether GLP-1 medications improve long-term outcomes beyond what can already be achieved through lifestyle interventions like resistance training, improved nutrition, adequate sleep, stress reduction, and cardiovascular exercise. Preserving muscle mass, maintaining adequate protein and micronutrient intake, building cardiovascular fitness, and supporting mental health all matter enormously when it comes to longevity and disease prevention.

GLP-1 medications are powerful tools. But they are still medications — not wellness accessories.

The future of obesity medicine is incredibly exciting. But thoughtful patient selection and individualized care matter now more than ever.

IImagine taking a medication that helps you crave more fruits and vegetables and less pizza, fried foods, desserts, and alcohol.

That’s not imagination. That’s GLP-1 medication.

One of the most fascinating things we’re seeing with GLP-1s isn’t just weight loss — it’s a shift in food preferences. Many patients naturally start gravitating toward nutrient-dense, plant-based foods and away from sugary, calorie-dense foods that drive inflammation, blood sugar spikes, and excess calorie intake.

And that matters because increasing plant intake has benefits that go far beyond the scale:
🥦 Improved gut microbiome diversity
❤️ Better cardiovascular health
🩸 Improved insulin sensitivity and blood sugar control
🔥 Lower systemic inflammation
💪 Better long-term metabolic health and longevity
🌱 Increased fiber intake for satiety and digestive health

This is why obesity treatment is about so much more than “eating less.” These medications are helping change the biology behind cravings, reward pathways, and food noise — making healthier choices feel easier and more sustainable.

GLP-1 medications aren’t replacing lifestyle change. For many people, they’re finally making lifestyle change attainable.

POV: you want a high protein dinner that tastes like takeout but takes almost no effort 👀

This paneer tikka dinner has been on repeat lately.
Just marinate paneer (torn, not cubed) in Gymkhana green tikka sauce for 30 minutes, air fry until golden (no extra oil needed), and serve with roti or a low carb tortilla for an easy, balanced meal.

You can also swap the paneer for tofu if you want a plant-based option 🌱

Why I love this meal:
✔️ High protein
✔️ Vegetarian
✔️ Quick and easy
✔️ Minimal ingredients
✔️ No extra oil needed thanks to the air fryer

Approximate macros for 3 oz paneer (before tortilla/roti):
- 21g protein
- minimal carbs
- 21g fat - yes this is a high fat meal so eat in moderation or swap for tofu!
- 270 calories

Add some cucumber salad or roasted veggies on the side and you’ve got a simple weeknight dinner that actually keeps you full.

Yesterday, the Endocrine Society announced an updated name for PCOS: PMOS — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.

And this shift is important.

For years, the name “PCOS” has failed to capture the full complexity of this condition. Many women were led to believe it was only about ovarian cysts or fertility, when in reality it can affect nearly every aspect of metabolic and hormonal health.

PMOS better reflects what clinicians have been seeing all along:
• insulin resistance
• metabolic dysfunction
• androgen excess
• inflammation
• irregular cycles and ovulatory dysfunction
• increased long-term risk for diabetes and cardiovascular disease

This isn’t just an ovarian condition. It’s a whole-body endocrine and metabolic disorder.

A more accurate name may help improve awareness, earlier diagnosis, and more comprehensive treatment for the millions of women affected, including therapy with GLP1 agonists.

And hopefully, it moves the conversation beyond “just lose weight” toward truly understanding the underlying hormonal and metabolic drivers behind this condition.

Folix

FoLix is a newer in-office laser treatment for thinning hair and hair loss. It’s a little different from the laser caps people use at home because this one uses a stronger fractional laser that creates controlled heat in the scalp to help stimulate hair follicles and increase blood flow.

It was FDA-cleared in 2024 and is designed for both men and women dealing with thinning hair.

The way it works is actually pretty interesting. The laser creates tiny microscopic treatment zones in the scalp without damaging the skin, and that triggers the body’s healing response. The goal is to improve circulation, stimulate collagen production, boost hair growth signals, and kind of “wake up” weaker or dormant follicles.

This is not a hair transplant or anything like that by no means — it’s more about helping your natural hair grow back healthier and thicker.

As a physician, I see so many moms struggling with their weight, energy, hormones, and overall health — not because they don’t care, but because they’ve spent years putting everyone else first.

They make the appointments, pack the lunches, remember the schedules, carry the mental load, and show up for everyone around them, all while quietly ignoring their own needs.

And somewhere along the way, their health became the last priority on the list.

Moms, this is your reminder that taking care of yourself is not selfish. Prioritizing your health does not take away from your family — it allows you to show up for them as the strongest, healthiest, happiest version of yourself.

You deserve to feel good in your body. You deserve energy. Confidence. Strength. Longevity.

Moms spend their lives taking care of everyone else. It’s okay to finally let someone take care of you, too.

Happy Mother’s Day to the real life super heroes called Mom 🤍
