Phil has always been a bridge-builder, and perhaps his most impactful bridge was bringing a group of approximately 40 credit unions on as title sponsors in 2002. This collaboration allowed the Credit Union Miracle Day organization to utilize the race as a vehicle for good, raising a staggering $12 million for @ChildrensMiracleNetwork over the last 24 years. Phil is the first to credit the credit unions for this incredible work, but his leadership is what made the partnership possible. ❤️ ⁠

Before he ran the race, Phil *really* ran the race. He finished in the top 10 twice, taking 5th in 1975 with a time of 52:55 and 6th in 1977 with a time of 51:01. Phil was a top area runner who even competed in the 1976 U.S. Olympic Trials.
