To say that 2025 was a year of immense growth would be an understatement.

This was a year where we stretched and leaned all the way in — for our community, for our brand partners, for the culture, and for the stories that deserve to be told authentically.

From meetups and events across the country to @watchesandwonders and @dubaiwatchweek, we stayed focused on what matters most: lowering barriers to entry and helping more people discover the beauty of craft.

The work grew. The reach expanded. But the values stayed the same. For Complecto, inclusion isn’t a talking point — it’s the foundation everything we do is built on.

Shout out to @vikavickyvictoria for inviting me to share my POV in her @robbreport story on the AP x Swatch Royal Pop, along with @quaidwalker, @therealmassena, @honestcondition, @classic_watch_club, @thethinwrist, @crownthewatch.

A lot of the conversation around this release has focused on the merits of the collaboration, the legitimacy of the watch itself, and what the hype and flipping culture says about the state of the industry.

But for me, the more interesting conversation is about unpacking the “why” behind the reactions to this collab.

The things we choose to consume, collect, or aspire to collect often function as a mirror. They can reflect taste, status, access, aspiration, and insecurity. But they can also reveal the value systems we build around these objects - the hierarchies, gatekeeping, elitism, and classism that shape who gets included, who gets dismissed, and who gets taken seriously.

A lot of people have said, “it’s not that deep.” But sometimes “it’s not that deep” is how we stop the conversation before we get to the more interesting questions: what these objects represent, why people react so strongly to them, and what that reveals about taste, status, access, and the culture around them.

That’s why Complecto exists - to welcome more people into the conversation, challenge the idea that this world only belongs to a select few, and ground the experience in something more human, more inclusive, and more culturally authentic.

If we could all be a little more honest about what we consume, what we collect, and why, maybe that honesty becomes a starting point. Not just for better conversations, but for real action toward a more welcoming and inclusive industry that invites more people to discover and celebrate the craft of watchmaking.

For many collectors, Blancpain begins with the Fifty Fathoms. But spending time with the manufacture’s broader world reveals something deeper: one of Swiss watchmaking’s best-kept secrets.

Through the Villeret collection and its expanding expression of classical and complicated watchmaking, we explored a side of Blancpain rooted in elegance, restraint, heritage, and serious mechanical depth.

It was a reminder that sometimes the most compelling stories are the ones waiting to be rediscovered.

Complecto was proud to be part of the conversation, hosting a discussion with David Hong, VP of CPO at Bucherer, on Rolex Certified Pre-Owned and what it means for today’s collecting landscape.

CPO is bigger than availability. It sits at the intersection of trust, transparency, education, access, and how collectors navigate the market with more confidence.

Our friends from @balticwatches and @spaceonewatches have teamed up to deliver the Seconde Majeure - bringing together two very different design languages: Baltic’s vintage-leaning restraint and SpaceOne’s futuristic approach to time display.

The result is compact, elegant, and deeply French, with a jumping hour, wandering minute display, sapphire discs, and a dial plate finished in maillechort, including an optional hand-finished Charbonné treatment by Théo Auffret’s atelier.

It’s not often you see this much mechanical theater at this price point. And it was great getting an early look at the SF @windupwatchfair last week.

A little heritage. A little sci-fi. A lot of charm.

The Freak has never behaved like anything else in watchmaking.

No dial. No hands. No crown. None of the conventional rules.

At Watches and Wonders, Ulysse Nardin brought us into the world of the Freak with @fxhotier, President of Ulysse Nardin Americas, for a closer look at the new Super Freak.

Since 2001, the Freak has pushed mechanical watchmaking forward - from introducing silicon into haute horlogerie to turning the movement itself into the display.

The Super Freak carries that spirit into its 25th anniversary with twin inclined flying tourbillons, patented DIAMonSIL escapements, the Grinder automatic winding system, and the first integrated seconds display in a Freak (among other innovations.)

Limited to just 50 pieces and priced at 320,000CHF, the Super Freak sits at the very top of Ulysse Nardin’s experimental watchmaking as a statement of what the Freak has always represented: mechanical innovation without apology.
