If you’re in HR you might have wondered how do we create psychological safety as part of cultural change? What burnout related issues affect turnover? What actually works to ensure performance and wellbeing, or do we have to choose?

Or you might be an employee asking how do I support a member of my team when they’re burning out without me burning out too? How do I protect myself if they’re cause of the burnout is the workplace? At what point do I find another place to work, or what can I do to impact positive change in it?

Over the next few weeks @yourburnoutcoach @andrebright will be answering all your questions with a separate video, so put yours in the comments for answers to questions you may not have felt safe enough to ask

I look forward to the day where we treat our mental and emotional wellbeing like we do our physical, and have regular check ups with our therapists and coaches

In the meantime, small wins can really help

When I was struggling the most, making my bed was a small but mighty feat.

- it reminded me that I’m capable of something
- it’s the largest single floor area of my room so it instantly felt like a tidier space
- my physical environment often mirrors my mental/emotional environment so I instantly started to feel a little better
- it often started the momentum to do other things which would in turn boost my mood

In this episode of the What a RELIEF! podcast, I spoke to @pausefully_ founder Vicki Hodges about the impact of the small things when coping with chronic conditions like endometriosis

I think there’s a fine line between effective coping mechanisms and masking.

We still have a job to do so you do what you need to, to get it done

But years, decades of refining this down to an art/science can get to the point where people forget your experience is happening at all!

But if they don’t see the signs, they assume you’re ok

And if they assume you’re ok, they may forget to ask

And if they don’t ask, you may feel alone

And feeling alone, you may refine your approach even more to keep it even more hidden, and the cycle continues

In this episode of the What a RELIEF! podcast, I’m talking to Vicki Hodges about endometriosis, but this can apply to any chronic condition

- fibroids
- grief
- sickle cell
- shame

If you feel like you may be masking too well, and don’t feel like there is a safe space where you can be honest about what you’re carrying and need strategies to help you break that cycle, DM me

Menstrual health related stresses don’t stop when you enter the office and resume when you leave.

But you’re a leader at senior level - director, head, c-suite - dealing with a condition that doesn’t end, and still relied on to make quick decisions, manage conflict and KPIs, and maintain client engagement.

So what reasonable adjustments, policies, ERGs that support those with menstrual health related issues, does your company provide? What can they do to help?

On this week’s episode of the What a RELIEF podcast, I speak to Vicki Hodges about the impact that endometriosis and other chronic conditions have on stress, and what scope organisations may have to provide support.

If you’re living with a chronic condition or want to know how better to support someone who does, this episode is an important one.

What happens when giving something the best chance means letting go of control instead of doing it all yourself?

I discuss this and more, with Dylan Brown, co-founder of SEJA on Episode 9 of the What a RELIEF! Podcast (out now on all platforms)

Letting go could mean:

- better ideas because more diverse insight is invested
- empowerment of others because they get to contribute, improve, learn
- more time for you because letting go gives you capacity for other things

But what happens when the idea alone is a trigger?

A recent client had this problem. They felt they were the best/only ones who could do certain tasks in the company so we explored it logically:

- what are you afraid of? The tasks that need to be done or being done, and those we help don’t get what they need
- I see. How old are you? 50s
- how long before you plan to retire? Maybe another 10 years?
- what happens when you leave behind the tasks only you can do? Oh…

This was a shift, but just the beginning.

As you may know by now, behind every logical step, is an emotional one.

So we explored questions like:

- when you think about letting go, what feelings/emotions come up?
- what beliefs drive those emotions?
- how much of those beliefs are actually true vs a story?
- what would be the benefits of letting go - for you, your company, your clients?
- so what would need to be true for you to let go and release that abundance?
- and what would need to happen to make that possible?

At this point, we’re already building his exit strategy, and the energy towards letting go has shifted from anxiety to excitement.

That’s what happens when you have someone to help you reframe problems into opportunities.

If your struggling to let go is causing stress for you, your teams, and clients, DM me - I offer one free 30minute no obligation consultation where we can explore what opportunities lie behind your stresses/stressors
