Last summer I had the honor of providing the cultural interlude for Netherlands Society for Evolutionary Biology. At their invitation, I gave a performance lecture called “What if?” in which I brought the arts and sciences closer together. Based on the concept of ‘forbidden phenotypes’ from the biological literature I showed the audience how artists give shape to forms and traits that would be selected against in nature - but exist in the world of art. By doing this they explore the worlds outside the boundaries of classical biology.
Thanks to Vasilis Kokkoris for the invite, @thecrobe for the (much needed) advice and lastly all the artists providing and trusting me with their materials. 💛
