Wrapped 🎬: The Dead Boy You Didn’t Know
There’s a responsibility when making a film about a place, especially if that place is not home to you. That was the task with this project…
Inspired by Antonio López’s (@barrioscribe) Stanford dissertation, we set out to tell a story about the ghosts that haunt a place that is constantly burying its past.
To do so, I decided to take a pedestrian approach to storytelling, not just in the narrative form, but in the process itself — our crew hit the streets, creeks, alleys, vacant lots, and old decrepit homes of the neighborhood — soaking in the memories, grief, and spirit of the place to nurture a film that speaks a truth worthy of our sweat.
This is not a story about moving forward. It’s a story about looking back. About turning to face what yearns to be remembered.

🚨 PSA CASTING CALL: To All My Loved Ones 🚨
We’re casting a short film about chiquillos (kids), recurdos (memory), and the ghosts that hang around even after a neighborhood changes.
This story comes from my doctoral work on East Palo Alto — from growing up here, listening, remembering, and asking what stays when so much gets taken away. We’re looking for Black and Afro-Latino kids, parents, elders: folks who feel at home in these streets, or who know what it means to walk them at dusk.
No acting experience needed. If you’ve never been on camera before, that’s more than okay. Curiosity counts. Presence counts. Heart definitely counts.
🎬 Filming mid-February 2026
