“There is something about design that feels like movement to me.”

Esther Kroes-Weizman (@eskweizman), one Treasure House Fair’s Media Ambassadors in 2026 and founder of @weizandco, invites us into her creative process: selecting objects, researching their stories, and seeking out pieces with true character. Preparing for the day in a suite at the Athenaeum Hotel @atheaneumhotel, she sets out to explore and discover the city.

Esther is drawn to texture and to objects that feel chic, provocative, or quietly unusual. Objects rich in material and purpose, always functional yet never predictable. Her approach blends contemporary design with antique treasures, creating layered, personal spaces full of contrast.

In a city like London, inspiration is everywhere, you can move across cultures without ever leaving. For her, fairs are a playground for discovery. She feels this is especially true of Treasure House Fair, where museum-quality antiques meet a strong contemporary showing, creating that dialogue between cultures and eras.

“After all, what surrounds us shapes us, so let curiosity lead the way.”

“Fabienne Verdier’s work is deeply gestural.”

@fabienne.verdier is known for creating her own monumental brush from horsetail hair, extending it with a welded bicycle handle to produce bold, abstract, and powerful marks.

As Carmen Hu from @waddingtoncustot notes, her practice is rooted in calligraphy, where control and intention are essential, especially with ink on paper, where every gesture is final. That discipline and precision remain central to her work today.

Above all, Lang Xiao from @artouchconsulting thinks that Fabienne’s decade in China reflects a rare dedication, showing curiosity, humility, and patience toward another culture. A reminder that meaningful cultural exchange takes time.

The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi opened in November and represents the latest addition to the Saadiyat Cultural District’s expanding cultural landscape.

Interior galleries take the viewer on a chronological journey through 13.8 billion years of natural history, with a special emphasis on the UAE.

The entranceway opens onto a vast, geometrically roofed atrium, housing a herd of monumental dinosaur skeletons.

The modular geometry of the exterior resembles Basalt columns appearing more sculpted than constructed. Designed by Dutch firm Mecanoo, the building bridges nature and abstraction, incorporating pentagonal elements, reflecting the museums focus on the evolution of life on earth.

A highlight of the museum’s collection is Stan, the world-famous Tyrannosaurus rex. Measuring almost 12 metres and preserved in exceptional completeness. The specimen is among the most extensively studied fossils of this iconic predator.

Walking away my impression was of a sense of solidity and permanence evoked by the materials used, and the attention to small design details.
Larger design details such as the size of the cafe-which appeared to be hilariously small for the number of tables it served-were perhaps overlooked in the pursuit of the smaller details. However, this may be unfair as we attended the first hours of the museum opening.

The museum’s opening marks another significant step in Abu Dhabi’s broader strategy to establish the emirate as a leading centre for culture, the arts, and creativity.

Built in the early 1900s by archaeologist and visionary Théodore Reinach, revivalist @villakerylos channels the elegance of Delos, where marble courtyards ano frescoed walls whisper stories of the gods.

Each room, designed in collaboration with architect Emmanuel Pontremoli, breathes the geometry, grace, and spirit of the 2nd century BCE. From lemonwood furnishings to hand-painted ceilings, every detail is a gesture of devotion to the ancient world.
