🚧 Proyecto Piloto 🚧

On June 12, Le Système becomes the testbed™ for Proyecto Piloto, a formula in which ambient-driven live sets slowly pave the way for later movement on the dancefloor.

The first phase of this controlled trial environment will feature deep listening sessions from @irlhuman and @goni__ma, two proper ambassadors of Montréal’s thriving experimental live scene.

The second phase is spearheaded by the return of @ranmaentero to Montréal. The WVWV co-head sets the floor in motion before handing it over to local favourite @diletagne, who will take us from pilot phase to full implementation.

This Saturday at Système we celebrate 3 years of the current iteration of Armable, but in a previous life Armable operated as an online radio based out of Santiago, Chile. The project, led by @cordltx @vigliensoni and @dedosmuertos, began in 2007 and ran until 2009, consisting of a 24-hour broadcast combining a rotation of both new and old tracks with a diverse lineup of resident shows.

Digging through the archives, we were able to recover some material offering a glimpse of what was an ambitious, punk, fully DIY project, but also perhaps not fully understood at the time.

After a reopening weekend belter, Armable returns to Système for another all-nighter alongside:

DJ Frog // Fresh off the release of new project “Cheeks”, we welcome one of Montréal’s best. Doo’s amphibian promises long, driven, loopy grooves that sit on the quirkier end of the spectrum.

Aram // Whether it’s a rave on the Voie Maritime or a makeshift DJ booth on top of Plongeoir’s pool table, the Zamalek brewer makes no distinction and just keeps it burning. This time, he’s on the controls all the way until the morning sun.

Guthrie from Ferias joins santinista to warm things up.

Armable x Body Language come together for Système’s big return.

The Nova Scotian town of Petite Rivière is home to Body Language, @exploriasound’s yearly weekender. Approaching its fifth edition, the festival has become a gathering point for artists and dancers from across Canada, featuring diverse lineups that explore various corners of alternative dance music.

Independent DIY festivals occupy a shrinking space in an ecosystem dominated by the likes of Superstruct and Live Nation. They remain rare instances where choices regarding programming, scale, and atmosphere revolve around community, which ultimately is what sustains them.

On March 20, they join us for an extended night at the freshly upgraded Système, with:

Armable and U-TURN link up for a night of dancing at @systeme_mtl, featuring stellar locals @ramzilllla & DJ Spence.

Ramzilla is the DJ moniker for Phoebé Guillemot’s fictional character RAMZi. This forest-dwelling creature excels in atmospheric groovers that draw from various genres and influences, and has become one of the city’s most precious exports.

Some say DJ Spence only listens to music through the Discogs youtube player. The Doo label co-head sits right in that sweet spot where obscure meets danceable. Expect a deep one from the CKUT conspirator.
