this time last year i had the honor of photographing @normclasenarchive for COLLINS’ SXSW install “americana first.”

norm clasen is the prevalent eye behind the iconic marlboro man campaigns of the 70s-90s and a man with a true heart of the west.

COLLINS is hosting another day celebrating all things frontier this saturday 03.14 where you can become friends with norm just like i did.

i fought with these images a lot. i loved them and i hated them and they never seemed quite right. different processes and crops and scans and treatments — and time. which turns out was the right ingredient.

it’s amazing what happens when you sit with something.

i only love them now. allow yourself time on things you love.
