Fast forward to a week ago, I got an email asking if they could spotlight my experience. Since then there’s been numerous articles published from all sorts of websites! It’s kind of surreal to see yourself posted on websites that you’re a reader of.

I’m grateful to be part of a community of engineers who are all about the shared goal of putting on killer shows and lifting eachother up. I owe a lot to the people who gave me a start in this industry and paved the way like @zach_fichter @matthew_mixes & @nathanteikari

There’s endless ways to get good drum recordings nowadays and I’m constantly shocked by how good even just one mic can sound when placed in a good spot.

This one’s a quick shootout between the internal mic on my Fujifilm camera vs a mix of drum mics I record with.
The compression you’re hearing on the camera mic is just the factory limiting straight off the camera.

This isn’t even the best example of how good a one mic recording with common gear can sound. I used to love just throwing my iPhone under the drum throne and recording through the voice memo app. The possibilities are endless and it’s a subjective pursuit imo

Let me know which one y’all like best and if you have any go to unorthodox recording methods.

Wanted to experiment with a new video editing technique, tracked some drums and improvised a bass part over it. Next time I’m gonna start with bass cause these fills were all over the place 🤣

Really have been enjoying filming and watching back my drum practice sessions recently. It’s all about the process and just letting some ideas out. This one’s from January 2nd after I got home from a NYE run doing sound for papadosio in Florida.
