For 140 years, the Home has cared for and found loving homes for thousands of dogs and cats. They also support owners with their Pet Food Bank to help keep pets with their families. With no government funding, they rely entirely on the generosity of our community.

Myself and Craig started @goodtimerunning over three years ago, and in that time we’ve had the opportunity to work with a number of local businesses and global brands. Co-ordinating with businesses/brands is part of what we do on a daily basis — how lucky are we? We’re consistently building new relationships and meeting new people who want to contribute something to our little club. One of these relationships is with lululemon.

Running is so popular at the minute. It’s been refreshing working alongside a brand who truly celebrate the inclusivity and community that running provides for so many. lululemon want the same thing we do at Good Time — to see a positive growth in our local running community. And they are willing to use their platform to support this!

So last year, when discussions around becoming a lululemon ambassador began, I was both excited and hesitant. I think there’s a bit of imposter syndrome surrounding the whole thing — why me? Running has so much going on for it in the city, and there are so many people I can think of who’d be right to take on the ambassadorship.

Fortunately the team at lululemon have been incredible. They’ve helped me to acknowledge and actually celebrate the work I’ve put in to help grow and empower the local running community over the last few years, and they’ve made me comfortable in my decision to accept the role!

Long story short, Edinburgh – I am now your lululemon run ambassador. Thanks to everyone who helped along the way. First gig is the shakeout run this Saturday — see the @goodtimerunning account for full details.

FAQs

Q: Who is GTRC for?
A: Anyone who wants/needs it. You’re welcome to come along, all inclusive means all inclusive. You don’t even need to run, just come for the food, drink and chats.

Q: When/Where do you run?
A: - Mondays, 18:30 @civerinos_official on the portobello prom, 5km
- Thursdays, 18:30 @oldeastwaytap, 5km
- Thursday trail run 18:15 @oldeastwaytap

Q: Do I need sign up/pay
A: No, just show up if you fancy it, no need to let us know if you’re coming. The runs are completely free.

Q: Do you do any longer runs/other events?
A: Yes, these are usually organised in our group WhatsApp chat, give us a message if you’d like more info.

Q: Is there a set pace?
A: No, we’ll run as a group, or several smaller groups, but you won’t run alone. First time? Just make sure you let someone know and we’ll make sure someone sticks by you. If you need to slow down someone will slow with you, if you need to walk someone will walk with you.

Q: Do you sell merch?
A: Yes, right now our current merch pre-order is for hats with @attainruncap. Link in bio

There is one week to go until our annual @goodtimerunning charity run!

If you fancy joining us for a 5km run from the Brewery Tap to the Walkers Bar, all you need to do is head over to the link in our bio to register and donate to arrochar_mountainrescue

The run is open to all ages; children must be supervised by a parent, and dogs on leads are welcome too.

Runners will receive a can of beer (or soft drink for under 18s) when they arrive at the Walkers Bar.

THURS 21st – EDI MARA SIGN PAINTING

Next Thursday we’re linking up with our pals at @goodtimerunning for a pre Edi marathon sign-painting session in the shop. Time to put our mountain of cardboard and your creative flair to good use.

Us runners have a short memory. “I will never do that again” usually leads to immediately getting another mara in the calendar…

What brings us back? The support. There are few things like the marathon – 26.2 miles of strangers screaming your name, willing you forward. It’s a beautiful thing.

With signs at the ready, we’ll be linking up with Good Time again for a cheer-zone on race day down at Porty Prom (end of King’s Road) – where the Interval van will be parked up to keep all you spectators caffeinated.

Spectating is hard too, more details on cheer-zone to come.

Now that we’re all inspired by the London Marathon last weekend it’s time to get serious about cheering our own troops on in Edinburgh.

We’re only a few weeks away from the biggest running event in Scotland. Hopefully you’ve seen us in the past cheering you on. If you haven’t then keep an eye out for us as we’ll be back this year for both Saturday/Sunday at @edinburghmarathonfestival

We’ll be announcing some news shortly on events leading up to EMF but in the meantime if you want to find out how to join our cheer squad give us a DM and we’ll add you to our whatsapp community. Catching up with @ccdrunning at this years ultra.

Chris completed 13 loops, just over 70km, and took home the prize for furthest distance covered on the day. If that’s not impressive enough a week later he went on to set his marathon PB at the Boston (UK) marathon.
