We are pleased to announce our second collaboration with Creative Growth, Yield To Color. This exhibition explores the tension between disciplined structure and vibrant, uninhibited expression through the works of Julian Ou and Rosa Giron.

In an increasingly digital landscape, this collection celebrates the physical, unwavering concentration required to bring form to paper. Julian Ou anchors the presentation with his meticulous focus on transferable lettering and eye-hand coordination, while Rosa Giron offers a visceral counterpoint with bold, neo-expressionist portraits that layer family history with graphic text. Together, they demonstrate the profound power of the analog mark to define both self and space.

This work finds its conceptual core in a moment from Indian mythology—the revelation of the divine within the mundane. The piece draws from the narrative of the young Krishna who, after being playfully accused of eating dirt by his brother, is confronted by his mother.

When Krishna finally opens his mouth to prove his innocence, his mother does not find handfuls of earth; instead, she is struck by a terrifying and sublime vision of the entire universe—the stars, the planets, and the totality of existence—contained within the child.

___________

Chenhung Chen
Krishna’s Mouth Wire
Cable & found objects
53 x 53 x 10 in.
___________

In this sculpture, Chen explores that exact tension: the transition from the physical, “earthen” material to a boundless, cosmic perspective. It serves as a visual metaphor for the artist’s own process, where industrial, discarded materials are transformed into a complex internal architecture that mirrors the vastness of the world around us.

We are pleased to invite you to Stand 333 for DON’T LOOK Projects debut at EXPO Chicago, featuring a solo presentation by Chenhung Chen (b. 1961, Taiwan). Our exhibition is situated within the FOCUS section, curated by Katie A. Pfohl.

Our presentation of Chenhung Chen practice—rooted in the Asian diaspora—transforms industrial materials like copper wire and staples into organic, flowing structures that mirror the very themes of connectivity and migration central to this year’s FOCUS.

By manipulating the “line” as both a physical boundary and a conduit for energy, Chen’s work explores the tension between structural rigidity and the fluid, ever-shifting nature of a global “gathering.”

Fair Details
• VIP Preview: Thursday, April 9 (By Invitation)
• Public Hours: Friday, April 10 – Sunday, April 12
• Location: Navy Pier, Chicago

We welcome the opportunity to discuss Chen’s work and its place within this curated dialogue at Stand 333.

We look forward to seeing you at Navy Pier.

Dowdle’s work lives in the “porous boundary” between the real and the remembered. Beyond mere landscapes, these works are investigations into how we see and what we choose to believe.

For his solo debut with DON’T LOOK Projects, Dowdle presents a collection that challenges the modern eye through both technical precision and conceptual depth.

Conor Dowdle’s “A Wilderness of Mirrors” offers a sophisticated dialogue between classical observation and contemporary theory.

Drawing from John Berger’s Ways of Seeing, Dowdle’s work explores the “porous boundary” between the real and the remembered. These aren’t merely landscapes; they are investigations into the strategic deception of the modern gaze. As his first solo exhibition with DON’T LOOK Projects, this collection represents a foundational acquisition opportunity for those focused on emerging artists with strong conceptual and formal foundations.
