Here’s a lick you can play over the turnaround of a song. I’m essentially inserting a 1-6-2-5 progression, and using tritone substitutions on every chord except the 1. You can hear my band intuitively follow me on these changes, but it sounds even more out when they don’t, and raises your chances of getting fired.
