From there our virtual backdrops were blended into the physical world. Giving the actors and the rest of the production crew a solid foundation to ensure the capture process was feasible for the lighting, cameras, props, studio space, and other crucial elements to best resemble the aspect of the events ‘total-ness’.

We ended our 2024 with a roadtrip across the country... kind of…
🚀 ↓ HOW WE DID IT ↓ 🚀
For our project with ESPN, we designed 4 different virtual backgrounds mixed with plate-work that best fit the look and feel of the production’s main character, a ‘70s VW van. When combining physical and digital worlds, the signficant elements to consider were choosing the proper colors, archetecture, lighting, and landscapes to best highlight and honor its vintage theme and style. 🚐💨

Three separate weather conditions all wrapped in one hot Summer day at the same location!☀️ ↓How we did it! ↓

🚀 The team took a special field trip to MHT and captured a handful of background plates for the LED wall and made ‘winter in July’ possible. By using virtual production for this shoot, we reduced the challenges that come with filming on the airport’s active tarmac like not having to worry about loud jets, the extra safety precautions, heatstroke, potentially dangerous areas, the weather, closing off a section of the airport during a business day and other obstacles.
