An action packed two weeks closing out march. We sailed east, spending a week in the Catskills with family. Fun walks in the forest, icicle hoarding, a wintery vibe that’s unique and special. It was great to finally ski together at @plattekillmountain, a mountain that has spanned multiple chapters in my life, since I first stumbled upon it in 2011. We love you Platty!

A quick trip to montreal to spend time at @cieleathletics HQ, snowy morning runs reminding me how nice it is to be able to run in shorts essentially year round.

To round it out, a quick 48hrs in New York for the 4th edition of our Film Fest. Always so inspiring to see these great films on the big screen for a true cinematic experience. Run Again by @alexis_berg taking the prize for original unaired films, @dankingphoto_ first place for original aired films with Caboose, and @owenhalstad and @etannersmith’s film Zovi: My Journey to the Start for @nyrr winning first place in brand spots. Thanks Ange and Jeff for the hospitality! And super fun to spend a few nights with my little niece as my roommate. ❤️❤️

A project seven years in the making… incredibly proud of everyone involved in this launch campaign for our new @cieleathletics Icon collection. From the product and design team to our creative partners on this - it hits right. Congrats team, and great to work once again with the talented @liammullany and his all star team. While he likes to say things like “at the end of the day, I’m just a guy sitting at a computer trying to make cool shit” - his cool shit is on another level.

I can watch this one over and over again.

video x @liammullany
1st ac x @niztalifa
1st ac x @alonsorecavarren
assist x @itsjasonlucas
original score x @andrewjudah
motion graphics x @zachrampen
post production x @jqsound
cd x @mbc_1000

I love the conversations at this age. The intense curiosity, the sponge for learning, connecting dots but also going way outside of the box while doing so.

Recently we’ve covered some great topics:
-do aliens have saliva?
-god and Santa and the cars that they drive (or don’t)
-the Easter bunny’s financial backing
-are fire trucks and ambulances friends?
-do zombies have nuts?
-inappropriate school yard stuff
-how much every house costs?
-do police actually shoot bad guys or do they just pretend they have real guns?

I truly appreciate the lenses through which they see the world. It’s so unbiased, so pure from a desire to learn, to question, and understand the things that they see, and imagine.

TRE!! Months of planning and preparation brought us to an action packed few days in San Antonio. It’s wild to look back at what our booth was in 2019 just after I joined - the collection, the stories, the innovations at the time, and contrast it to where we are today. The whole show, for that matter - really felt the energy from all of the brands attending!

Super proud of the entire @cieleathletics team for the progress over the years, and the awesome setup we had in Texas this year. Big thanks to our PR team @thefortemare for joining us. Amazing conversations, fun group runs, and some local flavours!

Uncle Hans.

Ever since I can remember, you were an inspiration. I would look forward to Summer trips to see you in Nova Scotia, and to your annual trip to Montreal.

Thank you for introducing me to golf in the summer of ’97. Playing with you and Judy, my brother, with two-word Al, shots of moonshine overlooking the Atlantic, cycling through balls you’d give to my brother and I that I would generously hand down to the woods, the water traps and the deep blue sea. The set of clubs you gave me with woods made out of actual wood – oh man those MacGregors! Even when I bought myself better clubs, I still brought those along, and preferred them… Every time I play, memories of Chester Basin come swimming back up to the surface. That association is forever.

I loved your home; your pride and joy. A stone’s throw from the bay, built up over years as a successful career empowered you to do. Late nights in the sunroom, sunsets on the patio. Friendly dogs blissfully unaware of their size. A lot of gadgets. A peking duck hanging in the garage with the fan on it.

Lots of laughs along the way. Including some of the gifts you got me. A fake Rolex, “no-one will notice.” I did. Haha. A collection of DVDs that were copies of films you borrowed from the library. Punchlists of things that needed fixing every time we should show up. Home-made wine and beer that took a few before they hit the palette right.

You packed a couple of lifetimes into the time you had here on Earth. Multiply that a few times over when you add in the creative liberties you took with storytelling. But all of that, in the best way possible. And I wouldn’t change any of it. You lived life to the fullest, and I’m glad we shared the times that we did.

See you on the other side Hans. 🤍🤍

If 42.2 was going to be anywhere, it had to be New York...

It’s been almost a decade since I got the 9+1 access to an NYC bib - that ultimately I never acted on - deciding to focus on shorter distances. On speed. On a self-driven competitive pursuit to see how what my body could do.

This past Sunday, I finally ran through the 5 boroughs. And it was magic.

Marathon day was always a special one when I was living in NY; it’s the only event that manages to rally the city behind it, millions cheering on yes, their friends and family, but way more so, strangers. The energy is unbeatable. And it was truly amazing to soak it in from the other side of the barriers.

There wasn’t a time goal for this one. It was genuinely acelebration of a return to running - for me injury recovery, for @itsmeseanhamilton , a return after stepping back from races for a couple of years. There were months leading up to this where I thought I would have to kick this down the road, and I really appreciate the three doctors who helped me rehab to the point where this was within reach.

I don’t really have any race photos so here are some random shots from over the weekend. ha.

Thanks to everyone who cheered me on before, during and after. @_ericlester , i’ll come back for that beer at mile 16, still bummed I missed ya!

New York. Thank you. This one felt great.
